[Kochi]International Airport authorities To Check Gold Smuggling Through Surveillance Cameras
In the view of sharp rise in number of gold smuggling cases, the Cochin International Airport authorities today decided to install more surveillance cameras at the airport and strengthen security operations.
Meeting chaired by airport Director A C K Nair asked various agencies not to appoint persons having criminal background at the airport, keeping in mind an increase in gold smuggling cases detected at the Kochi airport allegedly with the assistance of some people working with various agencies.
Nair said more surveillance cameras will be installed at the terminal and its premises as part of the efforts to strengthen security at the airport.
Air Intelligence Unit at the Airport had last week seized about 13 kg of gold, valued approximately at over Rs 23 crore in the open market, and arrested an flier who arrived from Dubai.

Journos have elected 21 Executives for Press Club India
Rahul Jalali has been elected as the new president of Press Club of India for the 2015-16 term while
Nadeem Ahmed Kazmi has been re-elected as its secretary.
Sri Krishna was elected as vice-president of Press Club.
Elections to choose the office-bearers of Press Club were held recently and there was a keen contest for the posts among journalists working with the print and electronic media.
Other elected office bearers include
Vineeta Yadav, joint secretary, and
Arun Kumar, treasurer.
Sixteen members of the managing committee were also elected by the PCI members.

केंद्र सरकार ने आज कहा कि भारतीय खाद्य सुरक्षा एवं मानक प्राधिकरण [एफएसएसएआई] विभिन्न राज्यों से इकट्ठा किए गए मैगी नूडल्स के कुछ और नमूनों का परीक्षण कर रहा है।यह जांच उत्तर प्रदेश के खाद्य सुरक्षा एवं दवा प्रशासन द्वारा मैगी इंस्टैंट नूडल्स के नमूनों में मोनोसोडियम ग्ल्यूटामेट और सीसे की मात्रा तय सीमा से अधिक पाए जाने के बाद की जा रही है।इसकी पूरी रपट दो से तीन दिन में मिलने की उम्मीद है। मैगी के विज्ञापन गुमराह करने वाले पाए जाने पर मैगी के ब्रांड एंबेसेडरों पर भी कार्रवाई हो सकती है।
खाद्य एवं उपभोक्ता मामलों के मंत्री राम विलास पासवान ने संवाददाताओं को बताया
‘‘एफएसएसएआई इस मामले को देख रहा है और वह कार्रवाई करेगा। हमने एफएसएसएआई को पहले ही पत्र लिख दिया है।’’
हालांकि उन्होंने अब तक मैगी के मामले में किसी उपभोक्तां से कोई शिकायत मिलने से इंकार किया
सरकार द्वारा इस मामले पर उठाए गए कदमों का ब्योरा देते हुए उपभोक्ता मामलों के अतिरिक्त सचिव जी गुरचरण ने कहा ‘‘एफएसएसएआई ने सभी राज्यों से नमूना इकट्ठा किया है। परीक्षण किया जा रहा है। आज कुछ रपट आने की उम्मीद है और अगले कुछ 2-3 दिनों हमें पूरी रपट मिल जाएगी।’’
[New Delhi]Google Doodle Pays Tribute to Radha Of “Mother India”Nargis Dutt[Fatima] on Her 86th Birthday
The latest Google Doodle commemorative logo pays tribute to yesteryear actress Nargis Dutt on her 86th birthday today.
A drawing of the late actress holding her dupatta with both hands is featured in the place of the Google logo.
Nargis, whose real name was Fatima Rashid, was born on June 1,1929.She made her screen debut as a child in “Talash-E-Haq” in 1935, but her acting career began in 1942 with “Tamanna”.
During a career from the 1940s to the 1960s, Nargis appeared in numerous commercially successful as well as critically appreciated films, many of which featured her alongside actor and filmmaker Raj Kapoor.
One of her best-known roles was that of Radha in the Academy Award-nominated “Mother India” (1957), a performance that won her Best Actress trophy at the Filmfare Awards.
In 1958, Nargis married her “Mother India” co-star, actor Sunil Dutt, and left the film industry.
Some of her films of this period include the drama “Raat Aur Din” (1967), for which she was given the inaugural National Film Award for Best Actress.
Nargis died in 1981 of pancreatic cancer, a few days before her son Sanjay Dutt made his debut in Hindi films.
In 1982, the Nargis Dutt Memorial Cancer Foundation was established in her memory.
The award for best feature film on national integration in the annual National Film Awards ceremony is called the Nargis Dutt Award in her honour.

Yogeshwar bagged the yellow metal in 65kg division, while Praveen Rana claimed the gold in 70kg category,
Amit Kumar and Narsingh Yadav also finished on the top of the podium in 57kg and 74kg categories, respectively.
Other Indians in fray were Mausum Khatri (97kg) and Hitender (125kg).
After World Wrestling Federation introduced variations in the weight categories at the end of year 2013, Yogeshwar chose to compete in 65kg category, climbing up from 60kg division, in which he won the bronze medal in the 2012 London Olympics.
Since jumping up the weight category, Yogeshwar has won gold in all four tournaments he has taken part so far.
Incidentally, he had won his first yellow metal in the new weight category in this very tournament last year.
He then went on to bag the gold in both the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and Incheon Asian Games in 2014 before making it four in a row here.
