Parliamentarians Takes Out “Jinn” Of Airfare Capping

[New Delhi] Parliamentarians Takes Out Jinn Of Capping Airfare
Parliamentary panel has suggested capping maximum airfares on domestic routes.
whereas Central Govt Is No Longer Interested In This Issue
The Department-Related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture — chaired by K D Singh — has suggested cap on maximum airfares in its report tabled in Parliament on 1st of December
The report pertains to action taken by the government on the observations/ recommendations of the panel on the Ministry’s Demands for Grants (2015-16).
In the recommendations made by the panel, it was suggested that there should be a regulatory mechanism to see that airfares remain within a reasonable range and also observed that the existing system has not worked.
The committee, in the report , said it is of the “considered view that some mechanism to cap the maximum fares on every sector is needed”.
This comes against the backdrop of rising concerns in various quarters about steep fluctuations in airfares.
Earlier, some Parliamentarians had asked the Civil Aviation Ministry to look into the issues of steep hike in air fares during festival season.
Besides, the panel said the government is taking “too much time to finalise Civil Aviation Authority”.
“The committee hopes that the Civil Aviation Authority of India Bill will be placed before Parliament at the earliest so that the proposed Authority can address all the grey areas in the aviation sector,”
Once in place, this Authority would have safety oversight of air transport operators, airport operators and navigation service providers, among others.
In its submission, the Ministry said the Bill is being reviewed in view of comments received from other ministries and departments

Ousted’Bajwa’Advises His Successor’Amarinder’To Unite to Win 2017 Punjab Polls

[Chandigarh,Punjab]Ousted’Bajwa’Advises His Successor’Amarinder’To Unite to Win 2017 Punjab Polls
Noting that his removal as Punjab Congress chief “will not be a big price” if the party wins the 2017 Assembly election, Partap Singh Bajwa today asked his successor Amarinder Singh to “work hard” and “fight as one” to win the high-stake polls.
Bajwa, who was last week replaced by former chief minister Singh, described his removal as “temporary setback” and said his “sacrifice will not be a big price if party wins polls in 2017”.
“We will have to fight as one as there is going to be a tough challenge (in assembly polls). We need to do hard work and fight as one to achieve our goal as people now have an alternative because Aam Aadmi Party is there. They have government in Delhi and they have four MPs in Punjab,” Bajwa said
He said “Last time (during 2012 assembly polls), there was no other option with the people,”
Listing out priorities for the new leadership, Bajwa said that the first priority for the party is to save the state.
“Punjab needs to be saved first which is the first priority because Punjab cannot go in for a third political disaster,”
Congress had faced two successive defeats in Punjab in 2007 and 2012 assembly polls when Singh was state party president.
Bajwa said the party workers who had faced “traumatic” experience during the SAD-BJP rule in the state should also be protected from the “oppression” of the ruling party.

Mint Coins[Sikke]of Re1+Rs 5 and Abolish Coins of Rs 2+50 Paise :RTI Activist

[Mumbai]Mint Coins of Re1+Rs 5 and Abolish Coins of Rs 2+50 Paise :RTI Activist SC Agrawal
Indian Rupee Coin[Sikke] Circulation up But 50 Paise Coin Losing Demand
The circulation of coins of various denominations like Re 1, Rs 2, Rs 5 and Rs 10 has gone up in the country in last few years, while the 50 paise coin is losing visibility, This Fact is revealed in an RTI query
The share of Rs 1 coins in the market in last five years has gone up from 29.10 per cent (of total share of coins) in March 2011 to 42.10 per cent in March 2015, it further revealed.
In other words, till
March 2011, total 32,675 million pieces of Re 1 coin were circulated in the market and the
number scaled up to 41,627 million pieces in March 2015,
as per the reply from Reserve Bank of India to a query by RTI activist Subhash Chandra Agrawal.
The reply also mentioned that the 50-paise coins, though not seen in much circulation of late, constituted 14.90 per cent of total coin production in the fiscal-year 2014-15.
However, its circulation remained almost unchanged in last four years, as in
2011-12, total 14,785 coins of 50 paise were circulated, and the
number marginally went up to 14,788 in 2014-15.
Agrawal questioned the need for minting 50 paise coins in such large number when “there is negligible need or demand for this denomination.”
The data also reveals that
Rs 10 coins constituted a small 2.80 per cent (of total coin share),
while Rs 2 coin had a significant share of 27.30 per cent in 2014-15.
The RTI activist suggested that the government, RBI and Security Printing & Minting Company Limited should concentrate only on minting coins of Re 1 and Rs 5, and abolish coins of Rs 2 and 50 paise.
However, a small regular increase in minting of Rs 10 coins may be there to gradually abolish currency-notes in this denomination, he further suggested.
