President Trump is Wheels Up From Historic India Visit

(Washington,Delhi) President Trump is Wheels Up From Historic India Visit
The President and First Lady Melania Trump are now en route back to Washington, D.C., after a productive and awe-inspiring trip to India this week.
The two-day schedule was packed with both working meetings and visits to cultural landmarks such as the Taj Mahal ,Sabarmati Ashram,,RiverFront etc
President Trump received a roaring welcome from over 100,000 people at a rally and huge crowed at 22 Km Long Roadshow hosted by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Melania and I have been awed by the majesty of India and the exceptional kindness and generosity of the Indian people,” President Trump said. “We’ll always remember the magnificent welcome the citizens of your home state showed us upon arrival.”
Earlier today, the President spoke to reporters about his successful visit and the growing power of the U.S.–India partnership. A few highlights:
On India: “I admire your country tremendously. I respect your Prime Minister tremendously . . . I think that India is going to be a tremendous player [now and] over the next period of 50 years and 100 years.”
On economic opportunity: “We just had a meeting . . . I thought it was a great meeting with some of the biggest businessmen in the world that come from India. They’re agreeing to invest billions and billions of dollars.”
On trade: “We also talked about tariffs because as you know, India is probably the highest-tariff nation in the world, meaning charging tariffs to outsiders. And I said we have to stop that. We have to stop it.”
On the Middle East: “We don’t have to act as a police force. We can act as a military force to win—not a military force to just take care of things in that very, very difficult part of the world.”
As part of President Trump’s talks with Prime Minister Modi this week, India is set to buy more than $3 billion of advanced American military equipment for its troops. A stronger India will boost U.S. efforts to defeat terrorism and drug trafficking worldwide.
The President also teased progress toward a major new trade deal, which would come on the heels of a recent Phase 1 agreement with China and the NAFTA-replacing USMCA.
“We think we’re at a point where our relationship is so special with India,” President Trump said alongside Prime Minister Modi. “It has never been as good as it is right now.”

(Chd,Pb)Punjab’s DGP Gupta Takes U Turn on His Remarks on Kartarpur Sahib Shrine Devotees
Punjab Director General of police, Dinkar Gupta, has expressed shock and outrage over his remarks made at the Indian Express Ideas Exchange event on February 20, being misunderstood or being willfully misconstrued.Earlier Top Cop has said that Sri Kartarpur Sahib has Potential to Turn a Sikh Devotee into a Terrorist within 6 Hrs
In a statement issued here, Gupta said, “I rejoiced at the opening of the Sri Kartarpur Sahib Corridor which has fulfilled the decades-old aspirations of millions of devotees like myself all over the world who profess their faith in Guru Nanak Dev Ji and his divine teachings. Their daily ardas for ‘khulle darshan-deedaar’ of religious shrines that remain in post-Partition Pakistan, was finally answered. It was a matter of even greater happiness that it coincided with the 550th Prakash Purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji”.
Top Cop also said that, as the DGP of the state, which is faced with continuing battle against violent extremism that continues to be funded and supported from across the border, he cannot over emphasize the need to remain vigilant.
He said,“I only red-flagged the obvious ‘potential’ for misuse by elements notorious for their hostility towards India and their effort to exploit every opportunity, even the most pious one, to disturb peace and communal harmony”
Gupta further said that his remarks at the Indian Express event were strictly pertaining to the security and safety of Punjab and India. There was absolutely no reference to any religion or community in his remarks but simply that some anti-national elements based in hostile neighborhood could misuse and exploit this opportunity and, therefore, “we” need to be vigilant to such potential dangers in the interest of peace and security of the people of the State, who, he said, had already suffered a lot in the past at the hands of terrorism promoted by our hostile neighbour.

Microsoft Top Brass Satya Nadella Visiting India:Clash With Trump

(New Delhi) Microsoft Corp Top Brass Satya Nadella Visiting India
Microsoft Corp Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Satya Nadella will visit India later this month
While the company confirmed the visit of the top executive, it did not give details about the dates and cities he is likely to visit.
According to sources, Nadella will be on a visit to India from February 24-26.
The visit comes on the heels of the Indian-origin CEO recently voicing concerns over the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) – Nadella had last month said what is happening is “sad” and he would love to see a Bangladeshi immigrant create the next unicorn in India. His remarks had raised a furore in the political circles.
In a statement issued by Microsoft on January 14, Nadella had said: “Every country will and should define its borders, protect national security and set immigration policy accordingly. And in democracies, that is something that the people and their governments will debate and define within those bounds.”
India is a major market for Microsoft – the tech titan has a significant presence in cities like Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
It is pertinent to mention here that US President Donald Trump is scheduled to visit India on February 24 and 25.
Nadella’s visit comes at a time when the Indian government is taking a strong position on issues like data localisation and tightening the rules for e-commerce companies as well as social media platforms. India has so far resolutely stood its ground on these issues, refusing to bow to the pressure from US companies.
The Personal Data Protection Bill – which outlines norms for handling of personal data including processing by public and private entities – was introduced in the Lok Sabha in December 2019 and has been referred to a Joint Parliamentary Committee.
The proposed legislation mandates processing of ‘critical’ personal data only in India. What constitutes critical data is to be notified by the Centre, it says.
It has also proposed that sensitive personal data – like financial data, health data, sexual orientation, biometric or genetic data, transgender status, religious or political belief/affiliation – can be transferred outside India with explicit consent, but will continue to be stored in India.
Prominent bodies like The US-India Business Council (USIBC) and internet and mobile players’ association IAMAI have flagged concerns on some of the provisions in the Bill, saying that these will impinge on privacy of Indian citizens and create challenges for businesses.
The USIBC has said the Bill contains several new provisions outside the core issue of data privacy that raises serious concerns for the private sector, particularly the inclusion of requirements around non-personal data and social media intermediary liabilities.
