दहेज हत्या के दोषियों के लिए कम से कम उम्रकैद की सजा का प्रावधान होना चाहिए |
महिला एवं बाल विकास मंत्री कृष्णा तीरथ आज कल दहेज उत्पीड़न के कारण महिलाओं की मौत के मामलों में कमी नहीं आने से नाराज हैं और महिला एवं बाल विकास मंत्रालय कानून में संशोधन के लिए जल्द कानून मंत्रालय को एक प्रस्ताव भेजने की तैयारी में है।
गौरतलब है कि बीते साल देश में दहेज हत्या के आठ हज़ार से अधिक मामले सामने आए थे।
इस प्रस्ताव में आरोप साबित होने पर दोषियों के लिए आईपीसी की धारा 304(बी) के तहत सिर्फ उम्रकैद का प्रावधान हो जबकि फिलहाल इस जुर्म के लिए न्यूनतम 7 साल और अधिकतम उम्रकैद का प्रावधान है।
तीरथ ने कहा कि दहेज के लिए होने वाली हत्याओं को हतोत्साहित करने के लिए कड़े कदम उठाने जरूरी हैं। इसके लिए उम्रकैद की सजा सबसे उचित विकल्प है।
