सर्वोच्च न्यायालय ने मुम्बई पर वर्ष 2008 में हुए आतंकवादी हमले में १० में से एकमात्र जीवित आतंकवादी कसाब की फांसी की सजा आज बुधवार को बरकार रखी है।
गौरतलब है कि मुम्बई की एक विशेष अदालत ने वर्ष 2010 में कसाब के खिलाफ फांसी की सजा सुनाई थी। कसाब ने इस फैसले को बम्बई उच्च न्यायालयम में चुनौती दी थी, जिसे न्यायालय ने फरवरी 2011 में अमान्य कर दिया था।
मुम्बई पर हुए हमले में 166 लोगों की मौत हुई थी। पाकिस्तानी आतंकवादियों ने समुद्र के रास्ते मुम्बई पर हमला किया था, जिसमें कसाब भी शामिल था। बाकी के आतंकवादी मारे गए थे लेकिन कसाब को जिंदा पकड़ लिया गया था।
कसाब के पास अभी भी दो विकल्प बचे हैं \[१]पुनर्विचार याचिका दायर कि जा सकती है इसमें दो महीने तक का समय लिया जा सकता है|[२]राष्ट्रपति से रहम [मर्सी] की अपील |
