हवाई यातायात में भले ही अभी गिरावट आ रही हो+ एयर पोर्ट की व्यवस्था पर प्रश्न चिन्ह लग रहे हों+कर्मिओं के असंतोष की घटनाएँ बढ रही हों+कार्बन टेक्स की तलवार लटक रहीहो+हवाई सफ़र लगातार महंगा किया जा रहा हो +पुराने तैयार एयर पोर्ट यातायात के लिए खोले नहीं गए हों मगर इस सबके बावजूद दस से पन्द्रह नए एयर पोर्ट बनाने और पचास गैर मेट्रो शहरों में एयर पोर्ट्स का आधुनिकीकरण करने की यौजना पर काम शुरू कर दिया गया है|जाहिर है इसके लिए ऍफ़ डी आई के लिए द्वार खोल दिए गए हैं|
आज जिस तरह से मध्यम वर्ग की संख्या बढ रही है और सड़क से यात्रा करना खतरे से खाली नहीं है ऐसे में अब हवाई यात्रा एक लग्जरी यात्रा नहीं रह गई है|वरन आज के दौर की जरुरत बंटी जा रही है|लेकिन दुर्भाग्य से इसे दुधारू गाय समझ कर इसका लगातार दोहन किया जा रहा है| संवैधानिक संस्था कैग की आपत्तियों के उत्तर आने शेष हैं|अनाप शनाप टेक्स थोपे जा रहे हैं|सुविधा के नाम पर आये दिन हड़ताल और अब तो आत्म हत्याएं भी होने लग गई है|प्लेन में आराम की या सुविधा की किसी को परवाह नहीं है|सीटें छोटी और कतारें संकरी होती जा रही हैं|कहने का तात्पर्य है कि हवाई सफ़र रोजाना महंगा हो रहा है मगर सुविधायों का अभाव होता जाता है|किंग फिशर के अलावा एयर इंडिया का स्टाफ भी अपने वेतन और तैनाती के लिए तरस रहा है|यहाँ तक कि सुप्रीम कोर्ट के आदेशों का पालन करने के लिए भी वेतन का भुगतान नहीं किया जा रहा है| बेशक इसे सिविल एविएशन मंत्री चौधरी अजित सिंह अस्थाई झटके बता कर पल्ला झाडना चाहते हैं लेकिन सवाल तो अपने जगह कायम हैं|चौधरी अजित सिंह का कहना है कि [१] कोलकाता और चेन्नई में बनाए गए गए नए एयरपोर्ट जल्द ही शुरू हो जाएंगे[२]।यूरोपीय संघ द्वारा थोपे गए विवादास्पद कार्बन टैक्स (जिसका भारत सहित कई देशों ने विरोध किया है) के मसले पर यूरोपीय संघ या दूसरे किसी भी समूह द्वारा थोपे गए एकतरफा पर्यावरण उपायों का प्रतिनिधिमंडल से विरोध करने का अनुरोध करेंगे[३]पायलटों के वेतन में कुछ महीने की देरी हो सकती है,।
इसके साथ यह भी दावा किया गया है कि सरकार अब देश के कई शहरों में हवाई उड़ान की बुनियादी सुविधाओं को दुरुस्त करने पर विशेष ध्यान दे रही है।
अजित सिंह एशिया-प्रशांत क्षेत्र के नागरिक उड्डयन महानिदेशकों के 49वें सम्मेलन के मौके पर पत्रकारों से बातचीत कर रहे थे। उन्होंने बताया, ‘देश का सिविल एविएशन सेक्टर 9 फीसदी की सालाना बढोत्तरी दर्शा रहा है। अगले कुछ वर्षों में इस ग्रोथ रेट के दहाई[१०] अंकों पर पहुंच जाने की उम्मीद है।’विमानन क्षेत्र के इंफ्रास्ट्रक्चर को मजबूती देने के लिए सरकार ने 15 नए ग्रीनफील्ड एयरपोर्ट बनाने की योजना बनाई है। इसके अलावा छोटे शहरों के 50 हवाई अड्डों को भी आधुनिक बनाया जाएगा। उन्होंने बताया कि विमानन क्षेत्र ९ % सालाना की दर से बढ़ रहा है।
उन्होंने सकारात्मक द्रष्टिकोण से कहा कि बड़ा मध्यम वर्ग तेजी से बढ़ रहा है। और भारत कम से कम ६% की आर्थिक वृद्धि दर हासिल कर लेगा|उन्होंने बताया कि सरकार ने अब ग्रीनफील्ड एयरपोर्ट्स में 100 फीसदी तक एफडीआई को अनुमति दे दी है।
इससे पहले सम्मेलन को संबोधित करते हुए सिंह ने कहा कि सरकार ने मौजूदा हवाई अड्डों के आधुनिकीकरण की प्रक्रिया शुरू कर दी है। उन्होंने कहा कि सरकार इस काम को मिश्रित रणनीति,सार्वजनिक, निजी क्षेत्र, संयुक्त उद्यम और सार्वजनिक निजी भागीदारी के जरिये अंजाम दे रही है। यहाँ चौधरी अजित सिंह के गृह जिले का उदहारण देना जरुरी है मेरठ में हवाई पट्टी के विकास के लिए सारे कागजी कम हो गए बताये जा रहे है मगर प्रदेश सी एम् का कहना है कि जब तक केंद्र किसानों की भूमि का उचित दाम नहीं देता तब तक जमीन का अधिकरण नहीं होगा| पटना के एयर पोर्ट की बदहाली की दास्तान तो संसद में भी सुनाई जा चुकी है| ऐसे में यह कहा जा सकता है|वन इन हैण्ड इज बेटर देन टू इन बुश |यानी जो हाथ में है पहले उसे सुधार लो
