क्रांतिकारी खोज के अनुसार अब व्यस्क शरीर के सेलों को फिरसे भ्रूण स्थिति में रिप्रोग्राम करना संभव होगा| इसकी खोज करने वाले दो वैज्ञानिकों ब्रिटिश वैज्ञानिक जॉन गुरडन और जापान के शिन्या यामानाका को संयुक्त रूप से सवा छह करोड़ रुपयों के नोबल पुरूस्कार की घोषणा की गई है|शरीर की सामान्य कोशिकाओं से स्टेम सेल बनाने में कामयाबी हासिल करने वाले जापान और ब्रिटेन के इन वैज्ञानिकों को स्वीडिश केरोलिंस्का इंस्टीट्यूट की नोबेल समिति द्वारा इस साल के संयुक्त रूप से चिकित्सा का नोबेल पुरस्कार दिया गया है। इंस्टीट्यूट द्वारा जारी बयान के मुताबिक इन महत्वपूर्ण खोजों से कोशिकाओं के विकास को लेकर हमारा नजरिया बदल गया। इस खोज से नई स्टेम कोशिकाओं के निर्माण का तरीका सामने आया, जो प्रौढ़ कोशिकाओं को फिर उस पुरानी समर्थ स्थिति में ले जा सकेगा| अर्थार्त बीमार लोगों की त्वचा से प्राप्त कोशिकाओं से उनकी बीमारियों के बारे में पता लगाया जा सकेगा और उनके उपचार में मदद मिल सकेगी।इस क्रांतिकारी खोज की मदद से भविष्य में नष्ट हो चुके अंगों को भी विकसित किया जा सकेगा|।इस तकनीक का विकास हुआ तो बहुत संभव है कि आगे चल कर हमें कोशिकाओं को बदलने की तकनीक का भी ज्ञान हो जाए.मसलन त्वचा और ब्लड कोशिकाओं से दिमाग़ और दिल की कोशिकाएं तैयार कीजा सकेंगी|आज कल हालीवुड की अनेको फिल्मों में यह चमत्कार के रूप में दिखाया जा रहा है जिसे अब वैज्ञानिक स्तर पर

गौरतलब है कि नोबेल पुरस्कार की श्रेणी में सबसे पहले चिकित्सा के क्षेत्र में अवार्ड घोषित किए जाते हैं।[१] मंगलवार को भौतिक,[२] बुधवार को रसायन,[३] गुरुवार को साहित्य और[४] शुक्रवार को शांति के क्षेत्र में नोबेल पुरस्कार की घोषणा की जाएगी। वार्षिक नोबेल पुरस्कारों की घोषणा अक्टूबर में होती है और हर साल 10 दिसंबर को दिए जाते हैं यह तारीख इस पुरस्कार के संस्थापक और डायनामाइट के आविष्कारक अलफ्रेड नोबेल की बरसी की तिथी है|
यह पुरस्कार 1901 से दिया जा रहा है. 1901 से 2011 तक 853 लोगों या संस्थानों को ये पुरूस्कार प्रदान किये जा चुके हैं| अब तक 199 लोगों को चिकित्सा क्षेत्र में नोबेल पुरस्कार दिए जा चुके हैं. इस वर्ष के विजेता [१]शिन्या यमनाका – जापान की क्योटो यूनिवर्सिटी के शोधकर्ता हैं। इनकी उम्र पचास साल है।
[२] सर जॉन गर्डन – जॉन कैंब्रिज के गर्डन इंस्टीट्यूट से ताल्लुक रखते हैं। उन्यासी वर्षीय गर्डन एक ब्रिटिश हैं।
