Senior IAS officer Anurag Jain, who is working as Joint Secretary in Prime Minister’s Office, was today given two years of extension in central deputation.
He is a 1989-batch IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre.
The Appointments Committee of Cabinet has approved the extension of central deputation tenure of Jain for a period of two years beyond June 28, 2016, an order issued by Department of Personnel and Training said.
An IAS officer normally gets a minimum of five-year central deputation tenure which is further extendable for two more years. However, the Centre can extend the deputation period further under exceptional circumstances.
Jain took over as the Joint Secretary in the PMO on January 1, 2015. He had been on central deputation since June 29, 2011.
He has held various posts both in the Centre and in the state including of Collector of Bhopal, Secretary to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Joint Secretary in the Finance Ministry.
