Obama Is the first sitting American president to visit the East African nation.This week President Obama is traveling in Kenya and Ethiopia to attend the 2015 Global Entrepreneurship Summit and to meet with leaders from government, business, and civil society. The trip is reinforcing the U.S. commitment to expanding economic growth and trade, strengthening democracy on a global scale, and investing in the next generation of African leaders.
President Barack Obama is holding talks with Ethiopia’s leaders on counter terrorism+human rights +regional security issues.
Obama arrived at the National Palace in the capital of Addis Ababa on Monday morning.
Obama and Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn were holding a bilateral meeting, followed by a joint news conference.
Obama was then to convene a meeting of African leaders on the crisis in neighboring South Sudan.
The president has also faced criticism from human rights groups and others for visiting Ethiopia.
