उधर बीजेपी प्रवक्ता मुख्तार अब्बास नकवी ने इस जहर का जवाब जहर से देते हुए संवाददाताओं से कहा, ‘गृहमंत्री के बयान में उनकी (कांग्रेस) विध्वंसकारी मानसिकता झलकती है. चिंतन शिविर में उन्होंने जो बयान दिया है वह बेहद आपत्तिजनक है. यह न केवल अस्वीकार्य है, बल्कि खतरनाक भी.’ उन्होंने कहा कि शिंदे के बयान का मकसद देश में शांति और समरसता को बाधित करना है.
संघ को एक ‘राष्ट्रवादी संगठन’ बताते हुए बीजेपी नेता ने कहा, ‘सोनिया गांधी को माफी मांगनी चाहिए. राहुल गांधी और गृहमंत्री को भी माफी मांगनी चाहिए, अन्यथा इसके गंभीर परिणाम होंगे. यह स्वीकार्य नहीं है. गृहमंत्री द्वारा इस प्रकार की बेबुनियादी बातें करना असली आतंकवादियों को क्लीन चिट देने जैसा है.’
बीजेपी प्रवक्ता ने यह भी कहा कि शिंदे के बयान से पाकिस्तान समर्थित आतंकवाद को ‘आक्सीजन’ मिल गयी है. उन्होंने कहा, ‘आपने भारत विरोधी आतंकवादी समूहों को भी मजबूती प्रदान की है.’
नकवी ने कहा, ‘कई बार मैं महसूस करता हूं कि कांग्रेस कायरों की जमात बन गयी है. मैं ऐसा इसलिए कह रहा हूं क्योंकि देश में बार-बार आतंकवादी हमले हो रहे हैं, आतंकवादी यहां पनप रहे हैं.’ उन्होंने कहा, ‘पाकिस्तानी सैनिक हमारे जवानों के सर काट देते हैं और हमारे प्रधानमंत्री इस पर प्रतिक्रिया जाहिर करने में इतना लंबा समय लेते हैं. हमारी सरकार इस प्रकार की घटनाओं पर कोई प्रतिक्रिया देने से पहले बार-बार सोचती है.

शिंदे ने कहा था, ‘जांच के दौरान यह रिपोर्ट आई है कि बीजेपी और संघ आतंकवाद फैलाने के लिए आतंकवादी प्रशिक्षण शिविर चला रहे हैं. समझौता एक्सप्रेस, मक्का मस्जिद में बम लगाए जाते हैं और मालेगांव में भी बम विस्फोट होता है.’ बाद में संवादाताओं द्वारा घेरे जाने पर श्री शिंदे ने कहा, ‘यह भगवा आतंकवाद है जिसकी मैं बात करता हूं. यह वही चीज है और कुछ नया नहीं है. यह कई बार मीडिया में आ चुका है.’
