Election Commission appoints special observers for the biennial elections to the Council of Four States

The Election Commission of India has decided to appoint special observers for the biennial elections to the Council of Four States,The poll will be held on 7th February, 2014. Director Investigation (Income Tax) of the concerned States have also been directed by the Commission to keep a strict and vigilant watch on the role of money power etc
The Election Commission of India has decided to appoint special observers for the biennial elections to the Council of States, 2014 for [1]Andhra Pradesh
[2] Assam
[3]Odisha[3] and
[4]West Bengal.
The poll in these Four states will be held on 7th February, 2014.
The duties of the Special Observers will be to keep a watch on electoral malpractices, if any, including role of money power. In case specific complaints are received, the same will promptly be looked into. The observers will also keep constant watch on the news and media reports related to These biennial elections In case of any electoral malpractices, the same will be brought to the notice of the Commission.
