NAPA Demands Immediate Release Of 100 Punjabi youth From El Paso detention facility In Accordance With ICE Directives NAPA Has Demanded Immediate Release Of 100 Punjabi youth From El Paso detention facility.
North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) is calling higher authorities of US Immigration and Custom enforcement (ICE) for an investigation into the detention of around 100 Punjabi youth at an El Paso detention facility.
In a separate letters sent to US Law makers and Mr Thomas S. Winooski Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Satnam Singh Chahal executive director of NAPA said that as per the ICE directive number 11002.1 which is effective from January 04, 2010 those detained Punjabi youths in ELPASO Jail who qualify under section 8.2 onwards of this directive should be released on Parole or bond as soon as possible. Chahal said that these Punjabi detainee’s everyday calling us that I.C.E.authorities determined their identity, nationality and they are also not a threat to national security.
While sending a copy of this director along with all the letters NAPA seek release of those 100 Punjabi detainees in ELPASO Processing center who are detained more than six months and are qualify for humanitarian release on parole or bond .Chahal said that although overwhelming number of immigrant detention centers are privately owned and operated, but the El Paso Processing Center is run by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) department where they can decide the fate of these Punjabi detainees on humanitarian ground at the earliest. Chahal recalled the authorities that Parents and family members of these detainees are suffering with great mental torture due to the detention of these boys and also cleared the air to all authorities concerned that NAPA is not seeking the release of those detainees who had any kind of criminal record or have no identification and proof of Nationality. Chahal also disclosed that they are consulting with the Legal advocates to file Habeas Petitions in courts jointly using reference of Casas-Castrillon and Diouf case decision.
