Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Monday ruled out the need for an alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the state but said the decision on a coalition with the party would be taken by the Congress high command.
He was responding to questions from media persons during an informal chat after meeting Congress president Rahul Gandhi to discuss a host of state government and party related issues, particularly in view of the forthcoming parliamentary elections.
On the issue of the Kartarpur Corridor, Captain Amarinder Singh said while Pakistan had already started work on the construction of the road on their side, development work had yet to start in the Indian Punjab, as the state government had not received any funds so far from the Centre for acquiring land for building the infrastructure.
The Chief Minister trashed as completely incorrect the allegations levelled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the loan waiver scheme for farmers in Punjab. His government had already waived off crop loans worth Rs 3,417 crores of 4,14,275 farmers in just one year. His government was committed to covering all the 10.25 lakh small and marginal farmers He said loans of the remaining about 3 lakh of the 10.25 lakh farmers would be waived off shortly.

Aam Aadmi Party today appointed its Rajouri Garden MLA Jarnail Singh as its Punjab joint in-charge, a duty which is being singly performed by Mehrauli legislator Naresh Yadav, who was arrested in a Quran desecration case.
AAP spokesperson Deepak Bajpai said that Yadav was not being removed from his post. Singh will work alongside Yadav as joint in-charge and Punjab spokesperson,
AAP is locked in a triangular fight against the BJP-SAD alliance and Congress in the state which goes to polls next year.

Aam Aadmi Party, which is eyeing to wrest power in Punjab in 2017 Assembly polls, proposed to come out with a separate manifesto for the Scheduled Caste (SC), saying the community have been “treated” as a vote bank while their demands have been ignored repeatedly.

Earlier, the much publicised ‘Youth manifesto’, released by AAP supremo and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in Amritsar, had courted controversy over the issue of superimposing the party symbol “broom” on the front page of the manifesto alongside the picture of Sri Harmandar Sahib.
Also, AAP leader Ashish Khetan equating the manifesto to the Guru Granth Sahib created a furore that refuses to die down, causing immense discomfort and damage to the party.
AAP now finds itself embroiled in religious and political controversies.
The party is also facing trouble following the arrest of its Delhi MLA Naresh Yadav in connection with a scarilage incident in Malerkolta town.

Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh today asked Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) not to “create chaos” in the state in the name of “revolution” and said those coming from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar must realise that they have no right to spread “anarchy”.
He asked AAP activists not to behave as “anarchists” saying Punjab cannot afford another era of violence and bloodshed.
Amarinder said spreading and circulating anonymous pamphlets asking people for “revolution” and targeting the leaders of mainstream parties is obviously an attempt by AAP to spread chaos and anarchy which is “highly condemnable and unacceptable”.
