(Kochi)112 French Citizens Evacuated From Kerala+TN in a Chartered AI Flight
The French citizens, mostly tourists and those who came for Ayurvedic treatment, were brought by the state tourism department 24 days ahead of their trip.
This Flight has been facilitated on the request Of Embassy of France and all Medical formalities are completed
French citizens were stranded due to the lockdown announced by the central government to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus.
The Air India flight was chartered by the French government for evacuating its citizens in various cities in India including Kochi, Bengaluru and Mumbai.
On Friday, Gulf nation Oman had evacuated its 46 citizens stranded in Kochi in an Oman Air flight.

Airline has said in a tweet.that
Air India’s London-Newark flights (both directions) have been cancelled along with the Newark-Ahmedabad flight.
Flight No. AI 102 from New York to New Delhi has been rescheduled and its revised time of departure is 12.15PM on March 22.
The departure timings of flight No. AI 144 from Newark to Mumbai has also been rescheduled to 11AM on March 22.
The airline has cancelled its Newark-Ahmedabad flight for the day along with the London-Newark flight on both ways.
It tweeted that re-booking and cancellation can be done without any penalty.

Air India has been allowed by Saudi Arabia to fly over its territory on its new route from New Delhi to Tel Aviv, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said today, This move would reduce travel time between the two cities upto 8 hours.

Air India today launched a direct flight from Amritsar to Birmingham.
The flight will operate twice-a-week on Tuesday and Thursday with Boeing 787 aircraft.
This is the first direct flight to be operated by any airline between Punjab and the UK.
The inaugural flight was flagged off from Amritsar by Union minister Vijay Sampla, MPs Shwait Malik and Gurjeet Singh Aujla and Director- Commercial, Air India Pankaj Srivastava.

Air India today said it is waiving ticket cancellation and other charges for passengers booked on flights to and from Male till February 20, in view of the prevailing situation in Maldives.
The island nation plunged into chaos last week when the apex court ordered the release of nine imprisoned opposition politicians, maintaining that their trials were “politically motivated and flawed”.
Against this backdrop, Air India has said it is waiving charges related to cancellation and date change, among others, till February 20.
Air India operates daily service on Delhi- Thiruvananthapuram-Male route. It also flies from Bengaluru to Male six days a week except for Tuesdays.
Budget carrier SpiceJet also has services to Male.

[New Delhi]Govt Relaxes Its Gripes Over Air India:49 % FDI Allowed
Modi government today relaxed FDI norms in various sectors such as single brand retail and allowed foreign airlines to invest up to 49 per cent in Air India. The decision was taken during the Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi . The Cabinet allowed overseas investors to invest 100 per cent FDI (foreign direct investment) in single brand retail trading and construction development without any government approval,
. “Foreign airlines allowed to invest up to 49 per cent under approval route in Air India,” the statement said. As per the policy, foreign airlines are allowed to invest under government approval route in Indian companies operating scheduled and non-scheduled air transport services, up to the limit of 49 per cent of their paid-up capital. However, the provision was not applicable to Air India, thereby implying that foreign airlines could not invest in Air India. “It has now been decided to do away with this restriction and allow foreign airlines to invest up to 49 per cent under approval route in Air India,”
