[New Delhi] Airport Employees To Link Aadhaar With Their ID Card
Airport Employees will have to furnish their Aadhaar number to obtain the mandatory Airport Entry Passes (AEPs) used for entry and exit.
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), the mandated force for civil airports, will implement the measure from January 1 after the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) issued an order in this regard on its request.
CISF Director General O P Singh said.”From January 1, all AEPs will be made using the Aadhaar number of the individual working or employed at the airport.
A committee constituted in this regard has mandated that these passes will only be made using the Aadhaar number.
“For the old existing passes, the validity has been extended till March 31,”
The Force has also sought creation of a AEP database so that red flags can be raised against defaulters or those who have been caught in wrongdoing,
Each AEP is checked by CISF security personnel during entry and exit at airports.
The force at present guards 59 civil airports in the country.

Over 400 suspected coal thieves, armed with traditional weapons and allegedly stealing coal from Kapasara colliery near Jharkhand-West Bengal boarder, today charged at CISF patrolling team who fired five rounds in air to thwart their attack,
According to local police, over 400 coal thieves, equipped with traditional weapons, were stealing coal from Eastern Coalfield Ltd’s (ECL) Kapasara colliery.
When a patrolling party of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) challenged them, the coal thieves first pelted stones and later charged at them with lathis, police said, adding that they also damaged the CISF patrolling vehicle.
In the attack, a CISF head constable, Sohan Jha, got injured, following which the CISF personnel fired five rounds in the air but the coal thieves also fired at them.
After receiving information, CISF Assistant Commandant Ravindra Chauhan, Inspector Balbir Singh and local police rushed to the spot with heavy forces for the rescue of patrolling party but the coal thieves had escaped before they reached.
An FIR has been lodged by CISF Assistant Sub Inspector Bablu Paswan, who was leading patrol party, at Galfarbari Outpost of Nirsa under which the colliery area falls.

67 Theft cases Registered During Last Year at Delhi’s Highly Secured IGI Airport Which is four time higher compared to 2013
The number of theft cases reported at the Indira Gandhi International Airport rose to 67 last year compared to only 14 in 2013, the government informed the Rajya Sabha today.
Minister of State for Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma said that 67 theft cases were reported at the IGI Airport in 2014 compared to 14 in 2013.
In 2012, Only 24 theft cases were reported at the airport while in the first three months of this year, their number stood at 19, the minister said.
While the number of theft cases reported at the IGI Airport had declined in 2013, it reported an increase in the subsequent year. Further, during the initial five months of 2014, only 18 cases were reported at this airport.
He was responding to a question on whether it is a fact that instances of baggage theft at the IGI Airport are increasing.
According to the minister, various measures, including sharing list of suspects with all concerned agencies, are done to prevent thefts at airports.
Ground handling staff are frisked while leaving airport, and they are banned from using cell phone in the air side.
