(Chd,Pb) 75 New COVID-19 Cases in Punjab; total 1,526
The novel coronavirus deaths rose to 27 in Punjab on Wednesday with two more fatalities, while the number of cases climbed by 75 to 1,526, the Health Department said.
A 29-year-old man from Jalandhar died of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) at the PGIMER in Chandigarh on Tuesday, while a 39 year-old man died in Patiala on Tuesday, according to a medical bulletin.
The two deaths take the total fatalities in the state due to the pandemic to 27. A patient is critical and is on ventilator support
Seventy-five people, including 35 Nanded pilgrims, tested positive for the virus in the last 24 hours, taking the total cases to 1,526. There are 1,364 active cases, according to the bulletin.
A total of 135 COVID-19 patients have been been discharged in the state so far with the recovery of two more people from Patiala and Jalandhar
A total of 32,060 samples have been taken so far in the state, out of which 24,303 are negative and reports of 6,231 are still awaited.
A health official said the number of pilgrims from Nanded, Maharashtra, testing positive for the pathogen reached 1,004, which is 66 per cent of the total coronavirus cases in the state.
Amritsar continued to top the COVID-19 tally in the state with 230 cases, followed by 135 in Jalandhar, 124 in Ludhiana and 95 in Mohali districts.

उप्र शिया सेंट्रल वक्फ बोर्ड के चेयरमैन वसीम रिजवी ने शनिवार को जारी एक बयान में कहा, ‘ उत्तर प्रदेश शिया सेंट्रल वक्फ बोर्ड के सभी मुतवल्ली को सूचित किया जा रहा है कि आपकी किसी भी मस्जिद, मदरसे में कोई भी तबलीगी जमात का कार्यकर्ता दिखाई दे या मुसलमान की दुहाई दे कर छिपना चाहे तो फौरन पुलिस को या शिया वक्फ बोर्ड की हेल्पलाइन पर सूचित करें।’ उन्होंने कहा कि नेपाल की सीमा से लगे क्षेत्रों की मस्जिद और मदरसों पर विशेष ध्यान रखें और अगर किसी भी मुतवल्ली ने किसी भी देशद्रोही को छिपाने में किसी तरह की मदद की तो बोर्ड उस मुतवल्ली के खिलाफ सरकार से रासुका लगाए जाने की सिफारिश करेगा।
बयान में कहा गया कि मुख्य कार्यपालक अधिकारी एवं सभी बोर्ड के निरीक्षकों को निर्देशित किया जाता है कि शिया वक्फ बोर्ड से संबंधित सभी संरक्षकों को दूरभाष के माध्यम से इस बारे में सूचित करें।

As per fresh Office Memorandum (OM) issued by the Ministry of Personnel, employees who are “Persons with Disability” (PwD) or “Divyangjans” are exempted.
Earlier Office Memorandum issued by DoPT immediately following the imposition of 21 day lockdown, the Heads of Departments (HoDs) were asked to draw a list of staff of Central Govt ,that are “absolutely necessary” to carry out additional essential services within the department.

The Punjab government on Sunday decided to enforce lockdown in the entire state till March 31 in the wake of the threat of coronavirus.
Punjab has so far reported 14 cases of coronavirus.

A media bulletin issued by the Punjab government said the number of COVID-19 positive patients went up to 13 in the state.
As of now, testing of 181 samples has been conducted and out of which, reports of 141 persons came negative

Chief Minister Amarinder Singh had on Friday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a fiscal package to combat the coronavirus crisis and permission for private hospitals and labs to conduct tests for detecting the virus.
