Puducherry Lt Governor Kiran Bedi on Friday said Narendra Modi has given us the weapon to break its chain.
She said in a whatsapp message minutes after the Prime Minister’s appeal that “we should all kill the devil of corona virus together.”
In a video message broadcaset on Friday morning, Modi urged people to switch off lights of their homes at 9 pm for nine minutes on April 5 and light up lamps, candles, mobile flashlights to display the nation’s collective spirit to defeat coronavirus.

As per fresh Office Memorandum (OM) issued by the Ministry of Personnel, employees who are “Persons with Disability” (PwD) or “Divyangjans” are exempted.
Earlier Office Memorandum issued by DoPT immediately following the imposition of 21 day lockdown, the Heads of Departments (HoDs) were asked to draw a list of staff of Central Govt ,that are “absolutely necessary” to carry out additional essential services within the department.

A batch of 275 Indians evacuated from coronavirus-hit Iran arrived at the Jodhpur airport on Sunday morning
Preliminary screening of the passengers was conducted at the airport and thereafter, they were shifted to the Army Wellness Facility set up at the Jodhpur Military Station.
As per Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Rohit Kumar Singh ,there were 133 women and 142 men, including two infants and four children.

State-run insurer Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) has extended the deadline up to April 15, 2020.
“In view of prevailing extraordinary circumstances in the country on account of Covid-19, LIC will give relaxation to its policyholders in payment of premiums due on inforce policies up to April 15, 2020, wherever customers are unable to deposit online or otherwise,”
To contain the spread of the novel coronavirus, a majority of the states have asked people to maintain social distancing and avoid travel unless necessary.

As of now, testing of 181 samples has been conducted and out of which, reports of 141 persons came negative

Chief Minister Amarinder Singh had on Friday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a fiscal package to combat the coronavirus crisis and permission for private hospitals and labs to conduct tests for detecting the virus.
Singh had expressed grave concern over the escalating COVID-19 crisis while taking part in the deliberations during a video conference convened by Modi with all chief ministers to review the situation.

He pointed out that the coronavirus outbreak was a serious attack on our fragile economy and took potshots at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for beating of “thalis” in the honour of those working to contain the spread of the virus.
Gandhi said clapping would not help the daily wage workers and small and medium entrepreneurs.
“The coronavirus is a big attack on our fragile economy. Small and medium entrepreneurs and our daily wage workers are the most affected.
“Clapping will not help them. Today there is a need for cash relief and tax sops, besides relief in repayment of loans as part of a big economic package. Take immediate steps,” the former Congress chief said in a tweet in Hindi.

Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu on Friday appealed to non-resident Indians (NRIs),
The appeal came after three positive cases of the virus in Punjab had travel history to other countries.
During this time, a large number of NRIs from other countries visit their native places in Punjab. Doaba region comprising Jalandhar, Kapurthala and Nawanshahr districts in Punjab is a well known belt of NRIs.
Notably, Punjab’s first positive coronavirus patient had travel history to
Italy and the second person, who died on Wednesday in Nawanshahr had returned
from Germany via Italy.
A 69-year-old Mohali woman, who tested positive for the virus on Friday, had recently returned from the United Kingdom.
