Haryana’s Home and Health Minister Anil Vij said a ban had also been imposed on holding political, cultural and social gatherings or sports events that attract a crowd of more than 200 people with immediate effect.
Both government and private schools across the state will remain closed till March 31, Vij said, adding that the decision was taken after a Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar held a meeting with senior officials including those from the health department.
However, students will appear for their board/annual/assessment examinations as per schedule, Vij said.
On Friday, the Department of School Education had ordered the closure of all government and private schools in five districts of the state including Gurugram, Sonepat, Rohtak, Jhajjar and Faridabad till March 31.
About the measures taken by the health department to prevent spread of infection, Vij said all districts have been attached with a nearby medical college so that ventilators can be made available at a short notice if the need arises.
The Haryana government had on Thursday declared the coronavirus an epidemic.
Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar has assured the people of the state that there was no need to panic as all measures were being undertaken to prevent the spread of the infection

Punjab Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla on Friday announced closing of all schools in the state till March 31 as a precautionary measure to prevent spread of coronavirus.
He, however, said exams would be continued to be conducted according to schedule.
So far, one person who had returned from Italy had tested positive for coronavirus in Punjab.Seven Suspected Are Missing
The Health ministry on Friday put the number of coronavirus cases in the country at 75, which includes a 76-year-old man from Kalaburagi in Karnataka who became the country’s first coronavirus fatality.

India on Wednesday suspended all visas, except a few categories such as diplomatic and employment, till April 15 in a bid to contain the spread of novel coronavirus, according to an official statement.
The government also “strongly advised” Indians to avoid all non-essential travel abroad.
The suspension will come into effect from 1200 GMT on March 13 at the port of departure.
Visas of all foreigners already in India remain valid.
The decisions were taken at a meeting of a group of ministers held here under the chairmanship of Health Minister Harsh Vardhan.

Hubei has been under lockdown since January with some 56 million people under quarantine, but the number of cases has declined in recent weeks.
According to the provincial government, a mobile app will be used to give residents a coloured health code, and people labelled “green” in medium and low-risk areas will be allowed to travel within the province.
There is no indication that people can leave the province, and the measures also did not appear to loosen restrictions in Hubei’s capital, Wuhan.
Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday made his first visit to the city since it emerged as the epicentre of the coronavirus crisis in January.
On Tuesday there were only 17 new cases reported in Hubei province, all in Wuhan.
Most of China’s 3,136 coronavirus deaths and 80,754 cases came from Hubei, with the majority in Wuhan.

Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi’s visit to Bangladesh next week to attend the birth centenary celebrations of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman has been put off after the commemorative programmes were deferred due to detection of Coronavirus cases in that country, the Ministry of External Affairs said on Monday.
Decision has been taken by Bangladesh to defer the public events being organised to celebrate the birth centenary of the Father of Bangladesh, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
The deferment is on account of the detection of cases of coronavirus in Bangladesh, and the larger global public health situation in this regard.

Earlier, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had decided to stay away from ‘Holi Milan’ programmes and had appealed to people to refrain from attending social functions in view of coronavirus.
“Coronavirus is an infectious virus and its infection spreads from one person to another. Therefore, protection is more important than treatment,” he had said in a tweet.
The festival of Holi will be celebrated on March 10.

Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Wednesday said that Smart phones had already been ordered from China, which unfortunately had to delay release of the order due to the unprecedented Coronavirus problem, the Chief Minister told the House during his speech.
The issue, he said, had been rightly raised by some of the members since the promise of smart phones was part of his government’s election manifesto. His government had already notified the scheme and procurement of the phones had only been delayed due to the health emergency that had led to a shutdown in China, as a result of which the consignment of phones has not been received.

As per Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Cabinet Secretary held a high level review meeting on the preparedness for Novel Coronavirus with Secretaries of Health and Family Welfare,External Affairs, Home Affairs, Civil Aviation, Dept of Health Research, and representatives fromITBP, AFMS and NDMA, here today. Cabinet Secretary has held six review meetings so far.
A new Travel Advisory has been issued urging everyone to refrain from travel to China; travellers on return could be quarantined. Also, anyone with travel history of China since 15th Jan 2020 and from now on could be quarantined.
As of today, 58,658 passengers from 445 flights have been screened. Total of 142 symptomatic travellers picked up by the IDSP have been referred to the isolation facilities. 130 samples have been tested of which 128 have been found to be negative. The two positive cases found in Kerala are being monitored and areclinically stable.
The second batch of 330 passengers (including 7 Maldivan citizens)from Wuhan have arrived in India. Of these, 300 (including 7 Maldivan citizens) are housed at ITBP Chawla Camp and 30 are in Manesar. They are being effectively monitored.
