Chief Minister Of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal today asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to “give up control” of Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) and support Delhi government’s anti-graft efforts.
Kejriwal Tweeted
“I wud also urge PM n Rajnath ji to now give up their control over ACB n support Del govt’s anti-corruption efforts, (sic)”
The Chief Minister also said that the Delhi government is not helpless and has several ways to nab corrupt persons.
He tweeted.”Just becoz ACB is not wid us doesn’t mean Del govt is helpless. Del govt has many ways to nab corrupt (sic),”
In the past, Kejriwal has accused the Centre of taking away the powers of ACB and has demanded that the anti-graft body be handed over to the AAP dispensation to take strict action against those involved in corruption.
, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia Has warned Delhi government’s ministers, legislators and officers of strict action if they are found to be involved in corruption, after Principal Secretary Sanjay Pratap Singh was arrested by CBI for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 2.2 lakh.
Sisodia had also said that there is no space for any “corrupt” officer in the Delhi government.
“We want to give a clear message to officers involved in corruption that they won’t be spared…Singh’s arrest message is if you are corrupt, we won’t spare you irrespective of whether you are a peon, MLAs, officer or minister,” Sisodia had said.

The CBI today arrested a Principal Secretary in the Delhi government for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 2.2 lakh from the owner of a firm which supplies security guards and other manpower for clearing pending bills.
Sanjay Pratap Singh, Principal Secretary, Department of SC, ST and Minorities, and his personal assistant were arrested after the complainant approached Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s office.
They said the businessman, whose firm supplies peons, security guards and other staff for sundry works to various agencies, had accused Singh, an IAS officer of 1984 batch of AGMUT cadre, of demanding Rs 2.2 lakh as bribe for clearing bills for services rendered by the company.
CBI sleuths laid a trap after which Singh and his personal assistant were arrested.
“The complainant had recently approached Chief Minister’s Office. The CM’s office then guided the complainant in trapping the official and tonight got SP Singh arrested by CBI red-handed.

Union Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju said such a move would be like “taxing an economic activity to death”.
ATF (Aviation Turbine Fuel) expenses make up a substantial part of the overall operational costs incurred by airlines.
To bring down the costs, the Centre had earlier written to state governments asking them to reduce the value-added tax on ATF.

On whether the Centre was looking to evolve a consensus among states with respect to taxation on ATF, the Minister replied in the negative.
“I am not trying to develop a consensus. You see a consensus would not be possible. Luckily for us, a large number of chief ministers agreed to my suggestion. There is one chief minister who has gone against it and said what the hell… I will increase. It is okay, it doesn’t matter”, Raju said.
He was speaking at an air cargo summit organised by industry body PHD Chamber
About making taxation side of civil aviation sector a little more flexible, Raju said efforts would be made in this regard even as he added that usually the taxmen in the Finance Ministry are not pro-active and liberal.
“If you look at the political manifestos of all parties, regional and national, aviation will probably find a sentence in the BJP manifesto that too on regional connectivity.
“Somehow, aviation seems to have slipped from the political map. We need to bring it back”, Raju noted.
To a query on whether his Ministry has reviewed aviation security in the wake of a recent bombing of a Russian aircraft, Raju said, “Indian skies as far as security is concerned are fairly safe”.
On whether the Ministry has given preliminary approval for setting up an airport in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan, Raju did not offer any specific comment and only said, “we are not against (new) airports”

As per ACB No info on corruption cases against Dikshit .Delhi Law Minister Kapil Mishra has also been removed from the ministry for raising the issue.
Aam Aadmi Party[AAP] Government has not initiated any corruption case against former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, though the party had during the Assembly election campaign alleged irregularities during her tenure as CM.
Replying to an RTI query on the complaints received by it, the Delhi Government has stated that only one complaint was received from a Ludhiana-based resident against her.
The application from Lucknow-based RTI applicant Sanjay Sharma was forwarded by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s office to Directorate of Vigilance to provide information on cases registered by the present government.
The vigilance department forwarded it to Anti-Corruption Branch which said no such information is available in its record.
AAP had raked up the issue of alleged corruption during the tenure of Dikshit as Chief Minister in the election campaign and had swept the Assembly polls early this year.

A Delhi Police constable today filed a criminal defamation case in a court against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for referring to policemen as ‘thulla’, a slang, during his recent interview.
The complaint was filed by a constable, posted at Govind Puri police station here, in which he has claimed that he was insulted by Kejriwal’s remark.
“…Using a derogatory and demeaning term like ‘thulla’ to refer to police personnel is equivalent to referring to all Delhi Police officials as lethargic and unproductive. This word has, therefore, harmed the reputation of the complainant in the eyes of general public including his family, relative and friends,” the plea filed by constable Harvinder said.
The complaint further said that Kejriwal has intentionally insulted the entire Delhi Police force “as a whole and caused unnecessary provocation to police personnel in Delhi”.
“Being in a constitutional position as chief minister of Delhi, the capital of India, Arvind Kejriwal has immense influence and reach across the public space and his words impact the public view of Delhi Police.
“Therefore, by using such a derogatory and insulting word ‘Thulla’ to refer to police personnel, he has crossed all limits of decency,” the plea filed through advocate L N Rao said.

Delhi government today evacuated inmates of an old-age home in south Delhi’s Rangpuri Pahari area as it was flooded due to rains in the city.
Delhi PWD and Health Minister Satyendra Jain said all inmates of the old-age home have been shifted to a nearby community centre.
According to a senior government official, Jain along with Social Welfare Minister Sandeep Kumar and AAP MLA Col.
Devendra Sherawat rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation as soon as they got information about the flooding.Both ministers have been asked to submit a report on the matter to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal,
After shifting all inmates, Jain tweeted, “People shifted to community centre from Ragpuri pahari old age home which is flooded .I Sandeep & mla are at site,
.The old-age home was recently in the news after a number of deaths were reported at the facility due to dehydration suffered by inmates in last two months.Continuous downpour since early morning left many Delhiites stranded on roads as water logging contributed to heavy traffic snarls.
According to the MeT department, 93.8 mm rainfall was recorded till 8.30 AM.
Though the minimum temperature, which settled four notches below the normal at 23 degrees Celsius, provided some succour to the residents, the humidity recorded at 100 per cent added to their woes.

The new advertisement comes at a time when the government is under attack from both BJP and Congress for setting aside Rs 526 crore for information and publicity in the budget But Unfazed by opposition’s criticism over its Rs 526 crore advertisement budget, the AAP government has released a new TV commercial attacking the Centre.
The advertisement, with the tagline ‘Wo pareshaan karte rahein, hum kaam karte rahein’ (they troubled us but we continued with our work), highlights the achievements made by the Arvind Kejriwal government since coming to power.
The 1.27-minute video is being shown on all major news channels several times a day.
The ad starts with several newspaper clippings on stories on the recent confrontation with the Centre over different issues, and points out that despite the “plotting”, the Delhi government has been able to do good work.
Supervised by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, the ad?shows a scene from the Delhi Assembly wherein the voice of? the Deputy CM can be heard saying that he’s tabling the budget for this year (2015-16).
“The advertisement lists all government’s achievements, including doubling the education budget allocation+introducing 1,000 new buses+reducing power bills+starting work in unauthorised colonies+creating one lakh new jobs+deploying marshals in buses,”

Delhi Govt Has Doubled the Entertainment Tax
Multi System Operators have opposed Delhi government’s move to double the entertainment tax which would be applicable on cable TV and DTH services, saying that it would put additional burden on the common man.
According to All India Digital Cable Federation (AIDCF), the doubling of the entertainment tax would be an added burden on the common man whose main source of entertainment is the television.
“The said proposal of Delhi Government is like giving a piece of bread with right hand and snatching back the same from left hand. AIDCF strictly condemns the proposed hike,” said AIDCF, a body for MSOs.
Presenting the annual budget last week, Delhi government had proposed to double the entertainment tax to 40 % from 20 %
The association said that cable TV operators will have no choice but to pass on the hike to the common man.

The Aam Aadmi Party government today presented a Rs 41,129 crore budget with a major focus on education, health and transport sectors besides allocating funds to provide free wifi facility in colleges and villages.
Presenting the budget, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said his government will put major focus on reforming tax collection system and asserted that it will develop Delhi as a world-class skill centre and medical hub.
Calling it the country’s first “Swaraj” Budget, he said government has decided brought down the Value Added Tax rates for certain items.
Reaching out to the youth, he announced free wi-fi facility in all colleges as the AAP government’s first budget saw a 106 per cent rise in allocation to education sector.
He said the Budget document was a milestone towards achieving the ideal of “Swaraj” and a development model that was driven from the bottom instead of a top-driven one as it was prepared by the public at the ‘Mohalla Sabhas’.
In the budget, Rs 19,000 crore has been set aside for plan outlay while the non-plan outlay stands at Rs 22,129 crore.
Sisodia, who holds the finance portfolio, said.
The government is working towards making Delhi the first corruption free city in the country,
The government allocated Rs 9,836 crore for the education sector out of which Rs 4570 crore was given under the plan outlay, an increase of around 106 per cent over the last budget.”This (increase) is probably a first in the country which indicates our commitment to the cause of education. For us it is not expenditure but investment,”
He said the government was in the process of installing CCTV cameras in all classrooms of government schools across Delhi to bring in “transparency and accountability”.
