Punjab government on Saturday transferred seven IPS officers including Senior Superintendent of Police, Ferozepur.
IPS officer Harmandeep Singh Hans, SSP Ferozepur, has been posted as Commandant 3rd IRB, Ludhiana.
Narinder Bhargav will be the new SSP Ferozepur.
Hans was Ferozepur SSP during the Wednesday security lapse in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s convoy was stranded on a flyover.
The convoy on its way to Hussainiwala was stuck due to a blockade by protesters, forcing Modi to return from the poll-bound state without attending any event or a rally.
Hans along with several senior police and civil officials had appeared on Friday in Ferozepur before a three-member panel formed by the Union Home Ministry to inquire into the “serious lapses” in Modi’s security.
Bharatiya Kisan Union (Krantikari) chief Surjeet Singh Phul, whose union had blocked the road in Ferozepur, said it was the SSP Ferozepur who had informed them Narendra Modi was coming by road but we thought it was a bluff to get the road vacated.
Meanwhile, other police officers who have been transferred are Naunihal Singh who has been appointed as Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar.
AK Mittal has been posted as Inspector General of Police, Roopnagar, while Sukhchain Singh has been posted as Amritsar Commissioner.
Nanak Singh has been appointed as SSP Gurdaspur and Alka Meena will be SSP Barnala.
Two PPS officers Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh and Kuljit Singh have been given new additional and new posting orders.

Capt Govt Promotes 3 ADGs to DGP Rank in Punjab

(Chd,Pb) The Punjab Government on Friday promoted three Additional Director Generals of Police (ADGPs) to the rank of DGP.
ADGPs B K Uppal,
Sanjeev Kalra and
Parag Jain have been promoted to the rank of Director General of Police (DGP) from January 1
Parag Jain, who is presently on central deputation with cabinet secretariat, New Delhi, would be entitled only to the notional benefits and the actual benefits would be admissible as and when he would join his duty in the state government
Sanjeev Kalra is ADGP railways at Patiala and
B K Uppal is the chief director of the state vigilance bureau.

The next date for hearing has been fixed for February 26
The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday granted stay on the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) order that had set aside the appointment of senior IPS officer Dinkar Gupta as the state police chief.
The state of Punjab on Monday as well as DGP Gupta on Monday had approached the high court against the CAT order.
The petition challenging the CAT order was taken up by a division bench of justices Jaswant Singh and Sant Prakash
The court stayed the CAT order, said senior advocate Puneet Bali, the counsel for DGP Gupta.
On January 17, the CAT had set aside the appointment of Gupta as the state police chief that had come as a big blow to the Amarinder Singh-led state government.

DGP Discussed Terror Threat and Drug Abuse in Punjab

General of Police Dinkar Gupta on Saturday held a meeting of senior police officers here and discussed various issues including terror threat and drug abuse, officials said.During the meeting held at Patiala Police Line here, police chiefs of all the districts of the state were present, they said.
To a question on smuggling of weapons through drones from Pakistan, Gupta said all the security agencies including Punjab police are investigating the matter.
DGP said that no one would be allowed to disturb peace in the state and Punjab police was capable of dealing with any kind of situation.
The meeting was attended by Director Bureau of Investigation Prabodh Kumar, ADGP Administration Gaurav Yadav, ADGP Security Virender Kumar, ADGP Law & Order Ishwar Singh, among others.

Slamming at the Public grievances redress and monitoring system of India North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) said that this portal is useless without any will power of the authorizes concerned to redress the issues and grievances filed online by the applicant or complainant.
Executive Director Satnam Singh Chahal said that he filed a request for audience in the last week of January 2016 with Punjab NRI Minister Mr Tota Singh, DGP Punjab Police on Dec 2015 to discuss the serious issues of Punjabi Diaspora but until today this request is still under process and the same is pending with Mr H.S.Kandhola Director Grievances and Pensions for necessary action which should be taken on January 20,2016.
It is still waiting for action on Feb 19,2016 when he is back to United States from a trip to India
Chahal. Added, Similarly a request was filed to seek an audience with MEA Minister on Dec 23,2015 to discuss about the ten missing persons from Punjab while going to USA but the same request was closed on January 01,2016.
