Dr Manmohan Singh was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences  on Wednesday evening after he complained of weakness following a fever.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday wished his predecessor Dr Manmohan Singh, a speedy recovery.

Modi tweeted, “I pray for the good health and speedy recovery of Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji.” 
Earlier, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya visited the former prime minister and enquired about his health from the doctors treating him.

Former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh sought leave from Rajya Sabha citing ill health, which has been granted by the House.
This was mentioned by Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu in the House on Monday.
He further said the former prime minister has requested for grant of leave of absence from March 19.
The House later approved the leave.
The Rajya Sabha will be adjourned sine die on Monday in view of the coronavirus outbreak, Naidu announced in the House. The Budget Session was scheduled to continue till April 3.

As per Dawn Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi told reporters in his home town Multan on Saturday that Singh has accepted his invitation and would attend the scheduled opening as a common man rather than as a special guest
The proposed corridor will connect Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur with Dera Baba Nanak shrine in Gurdaspur district of Punjab and facilitate visa-free movement of Indian pilgrims, who will have to just obtain a permit to visit Kartarpur Sahib, which was established in 1522 by Guru Nanak Dev.
Pakistan is building the corridor from the Indian border to the Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur, while the other part from Dera Baba Nanak in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district up to the border will be constructed by India.
Qureshi said Prime Minister Imran Khan would inaugurate Pakistan’s part of the corridor, facilitating pilgrimage of 5,000 Indian Sikhs everyday to their holy place.

As per Home Ministry “The current security cover review is a periodical and professional exercise based on threat perception that is purely based on professional assessment by security agencies.
The decision to withdraw the security provided by the Special Protection Group (SPG), the country’s highest grade of protection, was taken after a three-month review involving the Cabinet Secretariat and the Ministry of Home Affairs with inputs from various intelligence agencies.
With the removal of SPG cover from Singh, the top notch security cover will now be given by the SPG only to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Gandhis — Sonia, Rahul and Priyanka.

The constitution amendment committee will have senior party leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad and Janardan Dwivedi as its chairman and convener, with 10 other senior leaders, including Ahmed Patel, P Chidambaram, Mallikarjun Kharge and Kapil Sibal, as its members.
The drafting committee has 44 other senior party leaders as its members. It also has four sub-groups on political, economic affairs, international affairs and agriculture and employment.
While A K Antony will be the chairman of the political sub-group and Selja its convener, Chidambaram has been made chairman of the economic affairs sub-group with Jairam Ramesh as its convener and Anand Sharma the head the international affairs sub-group with Jyotiraditya Scndia as its convener.
Former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda will be the chairman of the sub-group on agriculture, employment and poverty alleviation, with Meenakshi Natarajan as convener.
This will be the Congress’ first plenary session under the presidentship of Rahul Gandhi, after he took over the reigns of the party from his mother Sonia Gandhi in December last year.

[New Delhi]Congress Leaders Get Unconditional Bail In National Herald Fraud case Next hearing date is at 2 PM on February 20, of next year.
Congress President Smt Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul today sought and got bail in the National Herald case after a local court rejected complainant Subramanian Swamy’s opposition to the relief for them on the ground they are influential and can flee the country.
Amidst media hype and hoopla and tight security, Sonia and Rahul and three other accused Motilal Vora, Oscar Fernandes and Suman Dubey appeared before Metropolitan Magistrate Lovleen in the Patiala House courts complex in the heart of the capital in pursuance of the summons issued to them on Dec 8.
The case is based on a private criminal complaint lodged by Swamy against them of cheating, conspiracy and criminal breach of trust.
“The accused are reputed persons having deep political grassroots and there is no apprehension that they will flee,” the Magistrate noted while granting them bail on furnishing personal bond of Rs.50,000 each and one surety. He posted the case for further hearing at 2 PM on February 20, next year.
Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh stood surety for Sonia, while Priyanka Vadra gave surety for her brother Rahul.
A K Antony stood surety for Fernandes and Ghulam Nabi Azad and Ajay Maken for the other accused. Sam Pitroda, yet another accused, was granted exemption from personal appearance today on medical grounds.

Ex PM Told To CBI That Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s request for allocation of Talabira-II coal block to HINDALCO was approved by him on the advice of then Coal Secretary PC Parakh and examined by PMO officials, .He said Patnaik’s letter requesting a review of refusal to allocate the coal block to Kumar Mangalam Birla’s HINDALCO had led to the “re-opening” of the issue.
During the probe into the alleged scam in Talabira-II coal-block allocation, Singh was asked by CBI, “When the letter dated August 17, 2005 of Naveen Patnaik addressed to you as PM had only requested to provide required coal linkage for the important project of M/s HINDALCO, which was already allocated, why did you approve the accommodation of HINDALCO in the share of coal in Talabira-II coal block.”
Responding to the query, Singh said, “This letter of CM of Odisha also mentioned about the allocation of Talabira-II coal block to M/s HINDALCO Industries Ltd. This was required to be looked into by the Ministry of Coal.
