[New Delhi]Air India Seeks Domestic Passengers Facilitation For Its Flyers Landing in the US A .For Which The national carrier has sought the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) facility at Mumbai and Delhi airports to begin with, which would allow these passengers complete the immigration process at these airports itself.
Facing stiff competition from the Jet Airways-Etihad combine on the lucrative US routes, Air India has requested the External Affairs Ministry to facilitate a pre-clearance facility for the flyers on its US-bound non-stop flights from major domestic airports.
If Air India is allowed to have such a facility, its passengers would not have to go for immigration clearance on arrival,
Such a facility exists for Jet-Etihad passengers at Abu Dhabi, which is the headquarters of Etihad.
According to a recent report of the Sydney-based aviation think tank Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation (CAPA), passengers from India contributed 36 per cent to Emirates and Etihad’s US traffic in a 12-month period ending August 2014.

Jet Airways (India) Limited has proudly announced that airline, has received approval from the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) for its appointment of Cramer Ball as the Company’s Chief Executive Officer.
The 47 year old Australian national is a certified accountant and an accomplished airline executive with almost two decades of domestic, regional and international aviation experience, including roles at Etihad Airways, Gulf Air and Qantas.
Mr Ball was appointed as Chief Executive Officer (Designate) of Jet Airways (India) Limited in June 2014 and will lead an extensive three-year business plan to reshape the airline and secure its long-term future.

The Jet Airways Board met in Mumbai on Tuesday, 27 May 2014 and agreed to a series of critical measures which will lay the foundations to rebuild the business.
Shri Naresh Goyal, Chairman of Airline said: “We need to take stringent measures to ensure our success in this challenging and competitive aviation industry. There can be no short-term solutions. The changes required will take time to implement.”
Jet Airways today reported a full year operating loss of INR 2,076.2 crores (US$346 million) and a non-cash extraordinary write down of INR 936 crores (US$156 million), aircraft-on-ground of INR 417.6 crores (US$70 million) and impairment of goodwill of INR 700 crores (US$117 million). Total reported losses for the year ended 31 March 2014 amounted to INR 4,129.8 crores (US$689 million).
The airline also announced the appointment of Cramer Ball as its new Chief Executive Officer.*
Mr Ball 46, an Australian national, is a certified accountant and an accomplished airline executive with extensive experience at the highest levels of international, domestic and regional aviation sectors.

केन्द्रीय नागर विमानन मंत्रालय ने लंदन के हीथ्रो हवाई अड्डे पर जेट एयरवेज द्वारा अपने कुछ स्लॉट इत्तेहाद एयरवेज को बेचे जाने के मामले को लेकर उठे विवाद पर स्पष्टीकरण देते हुए कहा है कि इसमें कोई गलती नहीं हुई है।
मंत्रालय ने कहा है कि हीथ्रो हवाई अड्डे पर जेट एयरवेज ने अपने स्लॉट इत्तेहाद को बेचकर किसी तरह के नियमों का उल्लंघन नहीं किया है, क्योंकि इसके लिए उसे भारत सरकार की ओर से किसी तरह की अनुमति लेने की जरूरत नहीं है।
सरकार की ओर से घरेलू एयरलाईंस को स्लॉट आवंटित किया जाना तथा विदेशी एयरपोर्ट पर स्लॉट मिलना दो अलग बाते हैं। मंत्रालय ने कहा है कि जेट ने हीथ्रो एयरपोर्ट पर इत्तेहाद को जो स्लॉट बेचे हैं, वह उसे हीथ्रो एयरपोर्ट को-आर्डिनेशन लिमिटेड की ओर से आवंटित किये गये थे जिन्हें दो वर्षों के बाद किसी अन्य एयरलाइंस को बेचने का अधिकार उसे स्वत: मिल गया था। हीथ्रो की ओर से जो स्लॉट दिये जाते हैं वे किसी भी एयरलाइंस के लिए समय और उपलब्धता के आधार पर सुविधाजनक या असुविधाजनक हो सकते हैं। ऐसे में वह एयरलाइंस इसे किसी और एयरलाइंस को बेचने के लिए स्वतंत्र है, लेकिन इसके लिए उसे हीथ्रो एयरपोर्ट को-आर्डिनेशन लिमिटेड से मंजूरी लेना जरूरी है। जेट एयरवेज ने यह अनुमति लेकर ही इत्तेहाद को अपने स्लॉट बेचे हैं। जेट ने इसके लिए भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक से भी अनुमति ली है, क्योंकि स्लॉटों की बिक्री का सौदा विदेशी मुद्रा प्रबंधन अधिनियम के तहत आता है।
नागर विमानन मंत्रालय ने हीथ्रो हवाई अड्डे पर एयरलाइंस की ओर से पिछले 12 सालों में की गई स्लॉट बिक्री के आंकड़ों का हवाला देते हुए कहा है कि वर्ष 2012 में यहां 42 स्लॉटों की बिक्री हुई थी जो वर्ष 2012 में बढ़कर 526 हो गई। मंत्रालय ने कहा है कि प्राप्त जानकारी के मुताबिक जेट ने इत्तेहाद को हीथ्रो में अपने तीन जोड़े स्लॉट बेचे हैं। हीथ्रो एयरपोर्ट को-आर्डिनेशन लिमिटेड ने इसकी पुष्टि कर दी है ।

जेट एयरवेज के सी सी ओ सुधीर राघवन और एच डी ऍफ़ सी के वरिष्ठ अधिकारी पराग राव ने इस समझौते पर गर्व प्रकट करते हुए इसे अपने किस्म का पहला जॉइंट वेंचर बताया है|एक तरफ जेट एयर वेज के एतिहाद के साथ दो हजार करोड़ के समझौते पर सवालिया निशान लगा रहे हैं लेकिन इसके साथ ही पहले के एल एम् आदि एयर लाइन्स के साथ समझोते करने के पश्चात अब एच डी ऍफ़ सी बैंक के साथ इस समझौते से कंपनी अपने शेयर्स के ग्राफ को संभाले रख सकेगी|
