[Panaji,Goa]Parrikar Parcels Corrupt Top Cop “Gupta”
The Goa government has relieved the state’s Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Vimal Kumar Gupta, following allegations of corruption against him.
Gupta is directed to report to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
Last week, a woman police sub-inspector and a constable were suspended after they allegedly offered bribe to Gupta to the inquiry into complaints against them.
As per C M Manohar Parrikar, Gupta has been relieved but that does not mean he has been given a clean chit in the matter

EOW filed FIR against GCA chief in fraud case
The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Goa Police has filed an FIR against Goa Cricket Association’s President Chetan Dessai and two other office bearers in connection with a fraud of Rs 3.13 crore in two separate cases.
The FIR was filed yesterday after GCA’s life member Vilas Desai complained against Dessai, association’s secretary Vinod Phadke and treasurer Akbar Mulla for forging the signatures and opening bank accounts to siphon of money.
The police complaint mentions that the accounts were opened by all the three accused between October 23, 2006 and May 23, 2008 when they were not holding official positions.
The GCA was then headed by Dayanand Narvekar, while Dessai was its secretary and Phadke was its treasurer.

Police has summoned singer Remo Fernandes to appear before it tomorrow for allegedly threatening a minor girl at state-run Goa Medical College and Hospital, where she was undergoing treatment after being hit by his son’s car.
The Agassaim Police visited Remo’s residence last night, but when they did not find him there, the summon was pasted on his door.
The Agassaim Police had earlier booked the 62-year-old artist under stringent Section 8 of Goa Children’s Act on the girl’s complaint.
As per Local Police ,On December 2, the girl, a native of Malvan town in Maharashtra, was walking towards Old Goa to complete her vow to St Francis Xaviers when she was allegedly hit by the car of Remo’s son Jonah,
Jonah was immediately booked for rash driving.
