[Chd,Hary] Congress Promotes Spokesperson Randeep Surjewala for Jind Bypoll ,scheduled to be held on January 28
The BJP and the Congress on Wednesday announced the names of their candidates for the by-election in Haryana’s Jind Assembly constituency
Krishan Middha, the son of late INLD MLA Hari Chand Middha, will be the BJP’s candidate,
while Congress’ chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala will be its nominee for the bypoll.
Krishan Middha, whose father’s demise in August had necessitated the bypoll, had recently joined the saffron party. He was the frontrunner to contest as the BJP candidate from this constituency.
Meanwhile, the INLD and the recently floated Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) said they would announce the name of their candidates on Thursday.
January 10 is the last date to file papers by the candidates for the bypoll.
The bypoll to the Jind assembly seat, which is considered as the political heartland of Haryana, will prove to be a litmus test for various parties, including the ruling BJP, the Congress and the INLD.
The win from Jind is going to be crucial for the contesting parties, with the Lok Sabha polls not far away and the state assembly polls also scheduled for the later part of 2019.
While the BJP will be eyeing a win from Jind to consolidate its position ahead of the state assembly polls, the opposition Congress, which has been attacking the Khattar government over its alleged failure on all fronts, will also look to grab a victory.

Film has been extensively shot in villages around Hisar city.
As per sources “It reflects Haryanvi traditions and customs. It focuses on social awareness and eradication of social evils such as honour killing,”
The film would be released on April 22 in some states of the country.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today announced that the state will be made kerosene free next year.
“For this, gas (LPG) cylinders will be given to every household and families using kerosene for cooking will be given gas chullahs so that they do not have to cook amid smoke from wood or kerosene,” he said while addressing a ‘Mewat Vikas Maharally’ at Chandraka village in Mewat.
Khattar also accused the previous Congress regime of not being serious about the development of Mewat.
He said “During Congress rule, not even a single meeting of Mewat Development Authority (MDA) was held which shows their callous attitude towards the development of the area. On the other hand, after BJP took over, two meetings of MDA have already been held,”
In the rally, the Chief Minister made a number of announcements for development of the district including renovation of Kotla lake,
opening of a college,
setting up of a driving school with the help of Maruti Suzuki India ltd,
construction of park in village Sakras,
upgradation of 50 schools besides opening 19 new primary schools.
On the demand of linking Mewat with Railway line, the Chief Minister assured that efforts were being made in this direction. He also said a survey was being carried out for four laning of National Highway from Nuh to Rajasthan border.
Referring to the demand of filling up the vacant posts of teachers in Mewat, Khattar said recruitment of 10,000 teachers was underway.
He said a transfer policy has been prepared by the education department which will be soon implemented in the state.
This policy has already been implemented in Mewat district. At the same time, in order to overcome the shortage, the teachers who opt to serve in Mewat and Morni would be paid 10 per cent extra salary, he added.

Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij today hit out at the Punjab government over its “arrogant attitude” and asked its Chief Minister to honour the Supreme Court’s directive on the issue.
The SC had on Thursday directed maintenance of status quo on land meant for SYL canal after Haryana alleged that attempts were being made to alter its use by levelling it.
“The arrogant attitude of Punjab Government is not healthy for democracy. The Punjab CM should honour the order of the Supreme Court in SYL matter,” Vij said.
On Punjab Assembly’s resolution over the issue yesterday, he said, “This move is like a head-on collision between the Judiciary and the Legislature.”
“It is the Union Government’s responsibility that Punjab strictly implements the Supreme Court direction regarding SYL Canal,” Vij said.
He also accused Punjab government of trying to “draw political gains” out of SYL issue as the state will have election next year.
Haryana Cabinet Minister also accused the Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of “betraying” his native land, Haryana.
Referring to Jat reservation issue, he said Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has already assured the leaders of the community about passing the Bill in the ongoing session of the Assembly.
Vij also accused Congress of not attending the Assembly session as the party lacked “moral courage” to face the members.
“Congress not only boycotted from the all-party meeting (on SYL issue) but its MLAs did not attend Assembly session even after their suspension was revoked,”

Opposition Congress today boycotted the all-party meeting convened by Haryana’s BJP government on Jat reservation and Satluj Yamuna Link (SYL) Canal issues.
The state Congress chief Tanwar claimed that today’s meeting is just an eye-wash as the BJP government’s intentions were not clear right from the beginning of the Jat stir.
Tanwar said Congress also believes that BJP is befooling people on SYL canal issue as it is in alliance with the ruling SAD in Punjab and at Centre

,The Greater Cooch Behar Peoples Association (GCPA) demanding C category statehood or Union Territory status for Cooch Behar began this morning, disrupting movement of trains.
Several long distance trains were held up at various stations
GCPA supporters squatted on the railway tracks in New Cooch Behar station.
They are demanding that representatives of the Home Ministry should come here to hold talks with them.

As per GCPA leader Bangshi Badan Barman,Cooch Behar was included in India following an agreement between the then Maharaja of Cooch Behar and the Government of India. Cooch Behar enjoyed status of C category state for about three months but the then West Bengal Chief Minister Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy included Cooch Behar into the state as a district.
The GCPA leader said they will not withdraw the movement till their demand to make Cooch Behar a C category state or Union Territory status is accepted.

Attacking Haryana government over beef issue, Congress leader B S Hooda today alleged that His Successor C M Manohar Lal Khattar has taken a “U-turn” on the issue and that the BJP is bereft of a “stable policy”.”Haryana CM has taken U-turn on it.
Hooda Said ,If you want to amend it to get special permission then you have to go to the Assembly. The whole Assembly was unanimous when it passed the Cow Protection Act,”
Taking on BJP, the former Haryana Chief Minister said, “I am Arya Samaji. I am against eating of cow meat. When we said we will be opposing it, the Chief Minister has taken a U-turn because BJP has no stable policy.”
Earlier, Khattar had been quoted as saying in a section of the media that he was open to relaxing the beef ban for foreigners in the state. But later on he ruled out any plan to issue licenses and give relaxation to foreigners to consume beef in the state, where a stringent cow protection law was passed nearly 11 months ago.
Haryana’s Gauvansh Sanrakshan and Gausamvardhan Bill, passed by the Assembly in March last year, came into force in November after President Pranab Mukherjee gave his assent.
Under the provisions of the law, cow trafficking, slaughtering and eating beef are banned in the state.
BJP spokesperson Nalin Kohli said, “I have not seen exactly what he (Khattar) has said and in what context he has made his comment. In any case there are different laws in terms of banning beef. These have been there from long time in different states.”
Kohli added, “Another side is the question of eating habits of individuals which is also an issue. However, whatever has to be done it has to be done within the existing legal framework.”
