[1] Kerala govt stoped distribution of Maggi noodles
Kerala government today issued an order to temporarily stop distribution of Maggi noodles from over 1,000 retail outlets in the state in the wake of Uttar Pradesh FSDA finding monosodium glutamate and lead above permissible limits in the popular snack.
State Food and Civil Supplies Minister Anoop Jacob’s office said an order had been issued to temporarily stop the distribution of Maggi noodles from its retail outlets in the state fortwith till the veracity of the dispute is resolved.
Kerala State Civil Supplies corporation, also known as Supplyco, has around 1,400 outlets throughout the state.
The Centre had made it clear yesterday that Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is testing more Maggi samples collected from different states following the detection of monosodium glutamate and lead in excess of the prescribed limit in the noodles.

A case had been lodged against Nestle India by state food regulator FSDA in a local court at Barabanki in Uttar Pradesh over safety standards of its Maggi, while actors Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit and Preity Zinta have also been separately dragged to court for promoting the ‘two-minute’ noodles brand.

The BJP Government in Haryana today ordered random lifting of Maggi noodles’s samples from across the state for laboratory testing after allegations of lapses in food safety standards came to the fore.
Haryana’s Health Minister, Anil Vij told to media today
.”We have taken cognizance of reports of alleged lapses of food safety standards in Maggi noodles. I have ordered my department to lift samples of these noodles from across the state for laboratory testing,”
Vij said that he has asked the State’s Director General of Health Services to direct all Chief Medical Officers in the state to depute staff to lift the samples from every district.
When asked where these samples will be tested, Vij said, “We have good laboratories in our state. Moreover, if need arises, we can also get the samples tested from reputed laboratories outside the state as well”.He further said that if lapses in food safety standards are found after the tests, the state government will take strict action.
