Karambir Singh, presently is Flag Officer Commander-in-Chief (FOC-in-C) Eastern Naval Command The present Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Sunil Lanba retires on the 31st May
Born on November 03, 1959, Vice Admiral Karambir Singh was commissioned on July 01, 1980 into the Executive Branch of the Indian Navy.
During his long and distinguished service spanning nearly 19 years, he has served in a variety of Command, Staff and Instructional appointments. Vice Admiral Singh’s Sea Command includes Guided Missile Destroyers INS Rana and INS Delhi. He also served as Fleet Operations Officer of the Western Fleet and was Flag Officer Commanding Maharashtra and Gujrat area. Before taking over as FOC-in-C Eastern Naval Command in October 2017, he was Director General Project Seabird, Deputy Chief of Naval Staff and Vice Chief of the Naval Staff.
Vice Admiral Karambir Singh is a graduate of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington. Vice Admiral Karambir Singh has been decorated with the Param VishishtSeva Medal (PVSM) and the AtiVishishtSeva Medal (AVSM).

Six women officers of the Indian Navy, who successfully circumnavigated the globe on the sailing vessel, INSV Tarini, called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi today.
The expedition, known as the Navika Sagar Parikrama, was the first-ever Indian circumnavigation of the globe by an all-women crew.
During the interaction, the crew made a presentation on various aspects of the mission, their preparation, training, and experiences during the journey.
The Prime Minister congratulated the crew on the success of their mission. He encouraged them to share and write about their unique experiences during the journey. Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Sunil Lanba, was present on the occasion.
The vessel was skippered by Lt. Commander Vartika Joshi, and the crew also comprised Lt. Commanders Pratibha Jamwal,
P Swathi, and
Lieutenants S Vijaya Devi,
B Aishwarya and
Payal Gupta.

GRSE Pays Dividend @Rs 53.22 Cr To MoD Parrikar
GRSE, Kolkata Paid Record Dividend to the Government for the 23rd Consecutive Year
A cheque for Rs 53.22 crore towards dividend for the financial year 2015-16 was handed over to Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar by Chairman & Managing Director, Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE) Ltd., Kolkata Rear Admiral (Retd) AK Verma for the 23rd consecutive year,
GRSE, Kolkata, a Mini Ratna Defence PSU has been a profit making PSU and regularly paying dividend to the government exchequer continuously since 1993-94.
During 2015-16 fiscal, GRSE has registered an all-time high turnover of Rs 1707 crore as against
Rs. 1612 crore in the previous year.
The turnover of the company, which was Rs. 574 crore in 2007-08, has almost trebled to Rs.1707 crore in 2015-16.
GRSE has also earned its highest ever PBT of Rs. 247 crore as against Rs. 76 crore in the previous year and net profit of Rs. 161 crore as compared to Rs. 43 crore in the previous year.
The net worth of GRSE has increased to Rs. 1064 crore from Rs. 968 crore in the previous year.

Women[Power] Skipper+Crew Successfully Takes Their Vessel “Mhadei” To Chennai
The Navy’s famous sailing vessel Mhadei, skippered and crewed by an all-women crew of naval officers for the very first time, entered Chennai Port today, after participating in the International Fleet Review 2016. The sail boat had left Visakhapatnam on 09 Feb and is scheduled to make stops at Chennai and Kochi ports enroute before reaching her home port at Goa.
Lieutenant Commander Vartika Joshi, a Naval Architect, was appointed as the first woman Skipper of Mhadei on 08 Feb just prior to her return voyage. The boat is crewed by Lieutenants P Swathi, Pratibha Jamwal (Air Traffic Control specialists), Vijaya Devi and Sub Lieutenant Payal Gupta (both Education officers). The sixth member of the crew, Lieutenant B Aishwarya is an Engineer and is expected to join the boat next month.
The women officers are training to form an all-women crew that would attempt to circumnavigate the Globe next year.
This is the first all-women crew to man any ocean-going sailing boat of the Navy. All the crew members are volunteers and are driven by their passion for adventure and a love for sailing and the seas.

Appointment Of Admiral Dhowan is a rare departure from the decades-old principle Of The U P A Govt that the senior-most officer eligible is appointed service chief. The Previous departure from the seniority principle in the navy was made in 1990, when Admiral L Ramdas was made chief ahead of his immediate senior, Admiral S. Jain.
The Government has appointed Admiral RK Dhowan PVSM AVSM YSM ADC as the Chief of the Naval Staff.Admiral RK Dhowan took over as the 22nd Chief of Naval Staff of Independent India and 20th Indian officer to assume command of the Indian Navy.
On assuming command, Admiral Dhowan paid tribute to the country’s martyrs by laying a wreath at the Amar Jawan Jyoti, India Gate and inspected an impressive ‘Guard of Honour’ at the lawns of South Block.
Admiral RK Dhowan was commissioned in the Navy on 01 Jan 1975. He is a Navigation and Direction specialist who has served with distinction in an array of Command, Staff and Instructional appointments through his exemplary career spanning 40 years. He is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Defence Services Staff College and Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island, USA.
He has commanded frontline warships INS Khukri, INS Ranjit, INS Delhi and served as Chief Staff Officer (Operations) Headquarters Western Naval Command. He has also served as Indian Naval Adviser at the High Commission of India, London. He has commanded the Eastern Fleet as Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet and served as Chief of Staff at Headquarters Eastern Naval Command, Visakhapatnam. He also has the distinction of commanding the prestigious ‘National Defence Academy’, his alma mater as the Commandant.

भारत ने लापता मलेशियाई विमान के लिए नई रणनीति के इंतजार में अपना तलाशी अभियान फिलहाल रोक दिया है |मलेशियाई प्रशासन से ताजे निर्देश का इंतजार है। मलेशिया विमान का पता लगाने के लिए नये क्षेत्रों पर गौर सकता है।
लापता मलेशियाई विमान की तलाश के बारे में मलेशिया के अधिकारियों ने अब छानबीन पर आधारित संकेत दिया है कि तलाश अभियान नए चरण में पहुंच गया है और आगे की तलाश के लिए एक रणनीति तैयार की जा रही है। इसे देखते हुए तलाश अभियान स्थगित कर दिया है और इस काम में लगे भारतीय जहाजों, विमानों और साजो-सामान को हालांकि तैयार रहने को कहा गया है।
रक्षा मंत्रालय के अनुसार भारत ने अपनी वायुसेना, नौसेना और तटरक्षक दल के कई विमानों, जहाजों और साजों-सामान को लापता मलेशियाई एयरलाइंस के विमान एमएच-370 की खोज के लिए लगाया है। अंडमान निकोबार कमान, पूर्वी नौसेना कमान और भारतीय वायुसेना तथा भारतीय तटरक्षक दल के कुल छह विमानों और छह जहाजों तथा इनके हेलिकॉप्टरों को तलाश काम में लगाया गया था जिन्होनें अंडमान सागर और बंगाल की खाड़ी में फैले विस्तृत क्षेत्र में निर्धारित स्थानों पर मिलकर खोज का काम किया। पूर्वी नौसेना कमान के अतिरिक्त साजो-सामान को तत्काल जरूरत के लिए तैयार रखा गया था। समाचार एजेंसी भाषा ने अंडमान निकोबार कमान के प्रवक्ता कर्नल हरमीत सिंह के हवाले से कहा है कि पांच जंगी जहाज और छह निगरानी विमान के साथ मिलकर चलाये जाने वाले तलाशी अभियान को फिलहाल रोक दिया गया है।
रक्षा मंत्रालय के अनुसार भारतीय नौसेना ने अपनी प्रमुख भूमिका के रूप में नई दिल्ली स्थित समुद्री प्रचालन केन्द्र से शाही मलेशियाई नौसेना और शाही मलेशियाई वायुसेना के साथ सक्रिय समन्वय बनाया हुआ है। नई दिल्ली स्थित केन्द्र 24 घंटे काम कर रहा है।
लापता विमान की तलाश में विभिन्न निर्धारित क्षेत्रों में जुटी इकाइयों ने अभी तक लापता विमान को देखे जाने या उसके बारे में कुछ और जानकारी होने की कोई खबर नहीं दी है।
