M C I Inspected 31 And Rejected 6 Colleges 5 Of Which Are From The States Not Ruled By U P A
Medical Council Of India [M C I] carried out inspection of 31 medical colleges during 2013-14 and proposed rejection for opening of 6 medical colleges ,which is much less then the previous years.
Interestingly five out of six have been rejected from the states which are not ruled by UP A.and Fifty Percentage colleges are rejected from U P Only.During 2011-12 Inspectors inspected 6 Colleges out of which they rejected 2 colleges.During 2012-13 i out of 3 colleges were rejected. Apart from this 1 each from Chattisgarh and Tamil Nadu are rejected.
This Inspection was also carried out in Bihar[2colleges],Delhi[1college]Haryana[1],HimachalPradesh[1]Karnataka[3]Kerala[2]Maharaashtra[1]But these all were granted positive nod .
[1] During 2011-12== 43 colleges were inspected and 22 were rejected
[2] during 2012-13==33 colleges were inspected and 13 were rejected
[3]During 2013-14 ===6 out of 31 colleges have only been rejected for opening
The MCI has recommended to the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare for withdrawal of recognition for reported irregularities in respect of Santosh Medical College,[with 100 seats] Ghaziabad and Subharti Medical College, Meerut.[100 seats] The matter has been referred back to Board of Governors for re-examination.The Fate of students, specially quota students, have not been Unveiled.Both Colleges have 100 U G seats each.

Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare Shri Ghulam Nabi Azad in written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha has informed that Medical colleges are established/recognized as per the provisions of Indian Medical Council (IMC) Act, 1956 and the Regulations made thereunder. For this purpose, the Medical Council of India (MCI) inspects the medical colleges to assess the standards of examination and facilities available at the college as per the minimum standard requirement as prescribed in Medical Council of India Regulation, 1999.
