She joined around 6,000 school and college students, officials and NCC volunteers and performed as many as 40 different asanas lasting nearly 90 minutes from 6.30 AM on the Beach Road
Chief Minister V.Narayanasamy and his ministerial colleagues, who were scheduled to participate in the yoga day celebration, were conspicuous by their absence
.Addressing the participants, Bedi said, “We are all moving towards one world. Yoga is real humanity.
Yoga is coming from our Vedas. All over the world yoga is being celebrated as it unites mind, body and soul. Yoga stands for unity and harmony.”
Director General of Police of Puducherry Sunil Kumar Gautam, Secretary to Lt Governor G.Theva Needhi Das, Vice Chancellor of Pondicherry University Anisa Basheer Khan, officials of various departments and representatives of different organisations were among the participants.
The entire two km stretch of beach road was thronged by long rows of participants.
Bedi later told reporters that yoga “is the best gift India has given to nine billion people across the world.I want to thank my leader Prime Minister Narendra Modi who took this cause up in General Assembly of the United Nations (for declaring International Yoga Day)
By the initiative, Modi had united the humanity, she said.
The Lt Governor said she was committed to serve “…every breath of my life to realise the objective of prosperous Puducherry and prosperous India.

[Meerut,UP]Naqvi Says Politics on Health is Harmful for Health Only Ignorant People are Looking at Yoga with “Narrow MIndset”.
The Union Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that Yoga has now become “crown of the world’s health” and we feel proud that India’s thousands years old culture has proved to be “resource of health” for the entire world and its people.
He was leading the Yoga celebrations on the Grounds of CCS University in Meerut today.
Participating in the second “International Yoga Day” with thousands of people at Meerut, Naqvi appealed to the people to make this “International Yoga Day” a day of commitment to good health.
Celebration of “International Yoga Day” by the entire world community with passion and enthusiasm is another evidence of India’s growing prestige at global level, he said.
He congratulated the Prime Minister Narendra Modi whose efforts have resulted into global recognition and acceptance of Yoga.
Shri Naqvi ,Famous For Using Poetic Satire, said that Yoga is the “golden key to good health” and “good health is real wealth”.
Shri Naqvi himself has been practicing Yoga for the last several years and Yoga provides benefit to people of all age groups. Shri Naqvi said that it is not correct to link Yoga with a particular religion, region or community. Only ignorant people are looking at Yoga with “narrow mindset”.

[Ahmedabad] 2,000 Gujarati Pregnant Women Set Yoga Record in State Level Celebration In Modi’s Gujarat
Nearly 2,000 pregnant women set a record by performing yoga in Rajkot, as nearly 1.25 crore people today took part in the second International Yoga Day celebrations held at around 40,000 venues across Gujarat.

2,000 pregnant women set a world record by performing yoga while 8,000 children on this ground set a world record by making a human chain,” Patel told mediapersons after the event.
The CM practised ‘asanas’ for almost 40 minutes along with more than 30,000 participants, including IPS and IAS officers, MLAs, corporators and BJP leaders, who gathered at the ground this morning.
Chief Justice of Gujarat High Court R Subhash Reddy and Justice K S Jhaveri also practised yoga with other dignitaries.
Ministers and local MLAs and MPs took part in the celebrations in their respective regions.

Delhiites TurnOut in Large Numbers for International Yoga Day
The national capital celebrated the second International Yoga Day today with Delhiites turning out in large numbers at several venues earmarked for yoga demonstrations.
[1]Connaught Place was packed with an estimated 10,000 volunteers, who had started assembling before dawn for the event that started at 5:30 AM. Participants lined the three radial roads – inner, middle and outer circle- for the mega event.
[2]The AYUSH Ministry organised the event at six other locations- [a]Lodhi Garden[b]Nehru Park[c]Talkatora Garden[d]Swarn Jayanti Park in Rohini[e]Yamuna Sports Complex in Patparganj and [f]District Park in Dwarka.
At least 100 Resident Welfare Associations identified by the ministry also hosted Yoga Day events.
Minister for Urban Development and Parliamentary Affairs, Venkaiah Naidu, was present on the dais as the chief guest along with LG Najeeb Jung and BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi. The dignitaries later joined the crowd for the 45-minute yoga protocol.
The event in Delhi’s Connaught Place saw talks on yoga and musical performances. There were also special yoga performances by two differently-abled groups, including yoga on wheelchair.
A team of 250 CISF personnel, including a CISF women commando team also conducted a demonstration on ‘Pekiti Tirsia Kali’, a Filipino martial art.
Connaught Place was closed for traffic from 3 AM to 9 AM.
Celebrities like international wrestler Sangram Singh and Miss India 2014 Koyal Rana were also present at Connaught Place.
Around 200 officials and employees of the Civil Aviation Ministry and Airports Authority of India , including Secretary R N Choubey, performed various Yoga asanans at the lawns of the Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today held a review meeting with senior officials of AYUSH Ministry on the preparations of International Yoga Day on June 21
PM Modi, who will be participating in the event at the Chandigarh Capitol complex, was briefed about various arrangements being made for the function.
.A total of 180 training centres has been set up across Chandigarh and will also be serving as a venue for the event.
.As per officials , it is summer vacations and schools and colleges are closed ,offices start by 9 AM and Yoga event will be over by 8 AM,

Ayush Scores Two World Records For IYD Into Guinness Book

[New Delhi]International Yoga Day Scores Two World Records Into Guinness Book
The Ministry of AYUSH has been awarded with two Guinness World Records in two different categories on the first International Day of Yoga.
[1st ]
Category was for the largest number of participants in a Yoga Lesson at single venue.
The earlier record was of 29,973. To beat that record a target of 30,000 was required.
The Ministry broke that record as 35,985
participants performed Yoga at Rajpath In The Morning On International Yoga Day
[2nd]
Category was most number of nationalists in a Yoga Lesson. To achieve this at least participants from 50 countries were required to perform. But today participants from 84 countries performed Yoga at Rajpath.
Shri Shripad Yesso Naik. MoS(I/C). Ministry of AYUSH and Secretary AYUSH received the awards which were presented by the representatives of Guinness World Records Ms Victoria from UK and Mr. Marco Frigatti from Italy.
Speaking on the occasion the Minister expressed his gratitude towards the officials of the Ministry for making the programme of Rajpath a great success and efforts made towards achieving two world records.
Also present on the occasion were Yog Gurus, Mr. Guru Malladi, coordinator of EY Company and senior officials of the Ministry

After Declaring International Yog Day By UN Now WHO to incorporate yoga into universal healthcare
The World Health Organisation is closely working with centres in India and across the world to support the unique knowledge of yoga with scientific evidence and incorporate it into universal healthcare approaches
WHO is working closely with collaborating centres in India and across the world to bring this “unique knowledge” and to support it with scientific evidence to incorporate and standardise some of the practices of yoga.
WHO is also looking to bring yoga into education of medical practitioners since it is a challenge to standardise yoga practice.
Addressing the press briefing, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador Asoke Mukerji said by commemorating the Yoga Day globally, India hopes that through the “popularisation of yoga we will be able to tackle some of the biggest challenges that we face as mankind including in the area of global health.”
He said an estimated two billion people across 192 nations would have participated in commemorating the first International Day of Yoga by the end of June 21.

P M, Shri Modi, said that the present global environment represents a rare opportunity, when the world is keen to embrace India, and India is moving forward with confidence.
Addressing Heads of Indian Missions from across the world, the Prime Minister urged them to use this unique opportunity to help India position itself in a leading role, rather than just a balancing force, globally. Urging them to shed old mindsets, the Prime Minister said they should be quick to adapt to changing global situations.
Emphasizing the role of “Heads of Missions” in projecting India to the world, the Prime Minister described them as “shining vibrant representatives” (tejasvi, jeevant anshpunj) of India’s glorious heritage. He urged them to work ceaselessly and with a clear mind, on India’s development priorities, and to advance India’s interests abroad.
Speaking of conflicts in the twenty-first century, the Prime Minister said there were new “actors” and new “threats” to global peace and prosperity, and added that India, which always stood for “Vishva-Bandhutva” and peace – the brotherhood of the world – had a great responsibility in helping the world counter these challenges to peace.
On the challenge of climate change, the Prime Minister said protecting the environment is part of India’s cultural heritage, and therefore, India must take the lead in countering this challenge, and also work towards a change in global attitudes towards the challenges of climate change. He said Indian culture was replete with illustrations which indicated “prakriti-prem” – “love for nature.”
The Prime Minister credited the Indian diplomatic community for their success in the International Day of Yoga being adopted by the United Nations in record time, with a record number of co-sponsors.
He said Yoga should be projected as a possible solution to common everyday problems of people across the world, including stress management.
The Prime Minister said the NITI Aayog has recognized the Indian diaspora as a great strength of our nation, and Heads of Missions must come up with innovative ways, in which to positively build upon this strength.
The Prime Minister called for preparing a compendium of best practices of Missions across the world, and spreading them horizontally.
The Union Minister for External Affairs Smt. Sushma Swaraj, the MoS for External Affairs Gen[retd] V.K Singh, and the Foreign Secretary, S. Jaishankar, were present on the occasion.
