(New Delhi) Imprisoned P Chidambaram Gets Bail :His Cong Party Welcomes
The Congress on Wednesday welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision to grant bail to senior party leader P Chidambaram in the INX-Media money laundering case, saying truth finally prevails.
Senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor, however, said “justice delayed is justice denied”, adding, “this should have been granted much earlier”.
A three-judge bench, headed by Justice R Banumathi, granted bail to the 74-year-old former Union finance minister, who has been in custody for 105 days since August 21 when he was arrested by the CBI in the INX-Media corruption case. The Enforcement Directorate had arrested him on October 16 in the money-laundering case.

High Court is of prima facie opinion that custodial interrogation of Chidambaram is required for an effective investigation in the case.
Congress leader P Chidambaram Tuesday discussed with senior advocates Kapil Sibal, Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Salman Khurshid the situation after the Delhi High Court dismissed his anticipatory bail plea in corruption and money laundering cases related to the INX Media scam.
Sibal was asked by Supreme Court official to place Chidambaram’s petition before Registrar (judicial) who will take call for putting it before the Chief Justice of India.
Sibal met Registrar (judicial) Surya Pratap Singh and explained him the situation and what could be done.
The development came minutes after the high court declined interim protection from arrest to Chidambaram for approaching the Supreme Court.
After the high court denied him relief, senior advocate Dayan Krishnan, appearing for Chidambaram, sought stay on the operation of the order for three days, which the court denied
