Senior Congress leader Abhishek Singhvi on Friday backed party leader Jairam Ramesh’s remarks on Narendra Modi, saying demonising the prime minister was “wrong” and acts must be judged issue-wise, not person-wise.
Speaking at a book launch on Wednesday, former Union minister Ramesh had said Modi’s governance model was “not a complete negative story”, adding that not recognising his work and demonising him all the time was not going to help.
Echoing Ramesh’s views, Singhvi tweeted: “Always said demonising Modi wrong. Not only is he PM of nation, a one way opposition actually helps him.”
“Acts are always good, bad and indifferent they must be judged issue wise and not person wise. Certainly, ujjawala scheme is only one amongst other good deeds,” he said.
Ramesh had also cited how successful the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUJ) had turned out for Modi

SAD Moves Privilege Motion Against Congress Leaders Jairam And Renuka

[New Delhi]SAD Moves Privilege Motion Against Congress Leaders Jairam And Renuka, For Misbehaving With Their Leader Harsimrat Kaur
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today moved a privilege motion in Rajya Sabha against Congress leaders Jairam Ramesh and Renuka Chowdhury for allegedly misbehaving with SAD member and union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal.
Raising the issue of an alleged spat between the Congress leaders and the Food Processing Minister after Rajya Sabha was adjourned on Friday afternoon due to ruckus over AAP MP Bhagwant Mann’s controversial filming of Parliament House, Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa (SAD) demanded that the two should apologise for their behaviour or face privilege motion.
A minister, he said, has the right to speak in any House and the permission for the same was strictly between the Chair and minister.
Badal had sought permission of the Chair to speak on Mann’s act, he said and asked “What right do they have to obstruct.” Dhindsa also alleged that the two had misbehaved with Badal outside the House.
As the Congress members including the two in question strongly contested Dhindsa’s remarks, Deputy Chairman P K Kurien said a minister or a member can speak only with the permission of the Chair.
“That day, the Minister stood up requesting she be allowed to speak,” he said, adding the House was in pandemonium at that time.
Kurien, who was in the Chair on Friday, said he first allowed introduction of a private member bills and “so did not allow the minister to speak.”
The Minister, he said, had a valid point to make and if a discussion comes up again, she will be free to express herself.
Kurien said Chairman Hamid Ansari was seized of the matter and if he desired, the concerned parties will be called.
The alleged incident happened soon after Rajya Sabha was adjourned on Friday afternoon over ruckus created by the treasury benches on Mann’s actions.
Anand Sharma (Cong) said the minister has every right to speak in either House of Parliament on a bill or a discussion.

Congress,Showing Papers,Alleges Criminal Nexus’ between Lalit Modi and Royal family

[New Delhi]Congress,Showing Papers, Alleges Criminal nexus’between Lalit Modi and Raje family
Dismissing BJP’s denials, Congress today persisted with its demand for the sacking of Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, saying there was a “criminal nexus” between her family and former IPL boss Lalit Modi.
“There has been a criminal nexus between Lalit Modi and the Vasundhara Raje family,” party leader Jairam Ramesh told reporters here.
Declaring that Congress will not stop disclosures in the till a “closure” is done by the BJP by removing Raje, Ramesh released some fresh documents including one of 1949 which showed that the Dholpur Palace was owned by the Rajasthan Government.
For the second consecutive day, Ramesh accused her of “forcible, illegal occupation” of the Dholpur Palace along with Lalit Modi through a private company.
Ramesh said that the party has also not forgotten the case of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj who had helped Lalit Modi with travel documents.
“We have not forgotten about the Videsh Mantri. Closure and disclosure in her case is yet to come”, he said. Taking a dig at Swaraj, he said, ” Lalit Modi was helped on “humanitarian grounds, grounds like hanging out with Naomi Campbell”.
Insisting that the compromise between Hemant Singh, estranged husband of Raje and son Dushyant Singh was only for movable property, he claimed that despite much evidence produced by him, the BJP is trying to justify ownership of the property with Dushyant with “lame duck” arguments.
He said that the compromise was brought about in 2007 by the additional dist Judge of Bharatpur in a case titled ?Dushyant vs. Hemant Singh’.
He alleged that despite the palace and the land surrouding belonging to Rajasthan government, Dushyant Singh received a compensation of nearly Rs two crore from the NHAI for a 500 metre piece of land due to “nexus” between him and the Land Acquisition officer.
“He (Dushyant Singh ) got a compensation of Rs.2 crore, and that is a scam which needs to be investigated”, he demanded.
Ramesh said that government and BJP are making in vain attempts to disprove the “unholy nexus” between Raje and Lalit Modi, their co-ownership of Niyant Heritage Hotel Pvt LTD and ” patent illegal usurpation” of a government property for construction of a high end luxury hotel.
Congress has been demanding resignations of Swaraj and Raje over Lalit Modi controversy, of HRD Minister Smriti Irani over misrepresenting facts about her educational qualification in separate election affidavits and of Maharashtra minister Pankaja Munde for her alleged involvement in a “scam” by clearing purchases worth Rs 206 crore on a single day instead of inviting tenders in violation of the norms.
