[Srinagar,J&K] Srinagar Govt Building Catches Fire
A government building on the outskirts of Srinagar where an encounter took place earlier this year caught fire this morning,
As per sources, soon after the fire, a gunshot was heard from within the premises of JKEDI.
Fire tenders have been rushed to the spot, but they are not being allowed to enter the building due to security reasons, the official said.
An encounter between militants and security forces took place in the premises in February this year which lasted for more than 48 hours.

The issue of reservations in promotions for government employees today rocked the Jammu and Kashmir assembly again even as government maintained that the issue cannot be discussed in the House as it was pending adjudication before the Supreme Court.
MLAs from opposition Congress+National Conference + ruling PDP-BJP stormed the Well of the House to register their protest against the alleged government inaction in restoring the reservation in promotions for government employees.
Congress leader Nawang Rigzin Jora conducted mock assembly proceedings in the well of the house after Speaker Kavinder Gupta refused to halt the Question Hour proceedings to discuss the issue of reservations.
The protesting members had enacted similar scenes on Tuesday as well.
Law Minister Abdul Haq Khan intervened in the matter and reiterated that the house can deliberate on the matter only after the apex court has delivered its verdict on it.
He said “The honourable members are aware that the matter is pending adjudication before the Supreme Court. Let the Supreme Court give its verdict and then we can take it forward,”
Not satisfied with the government statement, the agitating members staged a walkout from the house

Mehbooba Govt Proposes Welfare Fund Of Rs 2 Cr for Scribes In J&K

[Srinagar,J&K] J-K Govt Proposes Welfare Fund Of Rs 2 Crore for Journalists In The State
Jammu and Kashmir government today proposed to set up a journalist welfare fund with an initial corpus of Rs two crore for providing financial help to working and accredited scribes in the state.
The legal heirs or dependents of working journalist will be provided assistance from the fund state Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu said in his budget speech in Legislative Assembly.
Drabu said “For last 26 years, journalists working in strife-torn state of Jammu and Kashmir are facing hardship as there is no welfare scheme for scribes,”.
He said “It would be ideal if the journalists of the state get together and set up a society, frame the rules and guidelines for administering this fund,”

[New Delhi]BJP Expands Chest for Establishment of Sainik Colony in Kashmir.Alliance CM Says No Land For Non State Subjects.
BJP today favoured setting up of Sainik Colony in Kashmir after its alliance partner PDP virtually rejected a proposal in this regard citing non-availability of land for non-state subjects.
BJP national secretary Shrikant Sharma said.”BJP is in favour of setting up Sainik Colony in Kashmir as well as resettlement of Kashmiri Pandits.
If a Sainik Colony can be set up in Jammu, why not in Kashmir?”
He said BJP also favours early resettlement of Kashmiri Pandits who had to migrate out of the state in the wake of militancy in Kashmir.
On the establishment of Sainik Colony in Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti said her government has not issued any direction in this regard.
“No land has been identified yet for establishing Sainik Colony.
No direction has been issued for establishing it.
The Sainik Board which is registered under an Act (of state assembly) has by-laws which say that land can only be alloted to state subjects.
Mehbooba Said , How can you even talk about bringing in non-state subjects?”.
Mehbooba said the position of the government is that it does not have any land available in Srinagar, Pulwama and Budgam districts for setting up such a colony.

IAS Officer Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur has been transferred and posted as Additional Secretary in the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.
While IAS officer Sushma Chauhan, awaiting orders of adjustment, has been transferred and posted as Director, Tourism, Jammu in place of KAS officer R K Verma who has been transferred and posted as Secretary in the Planning, Development and Monitoring Department.

[Jammu,J&K]PM Of India Modi Dedicates Superspeciality Hospital in Shrine Katra
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today Inaugurated the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital to the people of Jammu and Kashmir in Katra belt of Reasi district.
The 230-bed hospital has been set up by the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board with an investment of about Rs 300 crore at Kakryal near Katra.
The hospital has more than 20 different streams of medicine and surgery, including cardiology, cardio-thoracic surgery, neurology, neuro surgery, nephrology etc.
The hospital has two well equipped Critical Care Ambulances..
The Shrine Board has an agreement with Narayana Hrudayalaya Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore, which operates 32 hospitals all over the country, for operationalisation of the superspeciality hospital.

North Kashmir’s Baramulla district have sanctioned an amount of Rs 28 lakh as compensation to the families of seven persons killed in militancy-related incidents.
The District Level Screening-cum-Consultative Committee (DLSCC) meeting was held under the chairmanship of Baramulla District Magistrate Yasha Mudgal yesterday,
The committee sanctioned Rs 28 lakh in favour of seven militancy related victims as cash compensation, at the rate of Rs four lakh, to next of kin of the deceased persons.
Two appointment cases were also sanctioned on the spot,
The committee took up 17 cases, out of which nine were settled on the spot, while the other cases were referred to concerned agencies for re-verification,

A gunbattle broke out between militants and security forces in Tangmarg area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district today.
Acting on a tip off about presence of militants in Kunzer village, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area,
Gun battle broke out when militants opened firing on the security forces, who retaliated.
No casualties have been reported in the incident so far, the official said, adding intermittent exchange of firing was going on between the two sides.
