कांग्रेस के नेता कपिल सिब्बल ने देशद्रोह के कानून को खत्मकिये जाने की मांग उठाई
कांग्रेस के वरिष्ठ नेता कपिल सिब्बल ने देशद्रोह से जुड़ी भारतीय दंड संहिता की धारा 124ए को खत्म करने की पैरवी करते हुए बुधवार को कहा कि वर्तमान में इस औपनिवेशिक कानून की जरूरत नहीं है।
उनका यह बयान उस वक्त आया है जब जवाहर लाल नेहरू विश्वविद्यालय (जेएनयू) में दो साल पहले हुई कथित नारेबाजी के मामले में दिल्ली पुलिस ने हाल ही में कन्हैया कुमार और अन्य के खिलाफ आरोपपत्र दायर किया है जिसमें धारा 124ए भी लगाई गयी है।
सिब्बल ने ट्वीट किया, ‘देशद्रोह के कानून (आईपीसी की धारा 124ए) को खत्म किया जाए। यह औपनिवेशिक है।’
उन्होंने कहा, ‘असली देशद्रोह तब होता है जब सत्ता में बैठे लोग संस्थाओं के साथ छेड़छाड़ करते हैं, कानून का दुरुपयोग करते हैं, हिंसा भड़काकर शांति एवं सुरक्षा की स्थिति खराब करते हैं।’
सिब्बल ने कहा, ‘इन लोगों को 2019 (लोकसभा चुनाव) में दंडित करिये। सरकार बदलो, देश बचाओ।’

Pistol+Threat Letter Against Kanhaiya Found on Local Bus Which Is Sufficient Ground For Enhancement Of His Security
A country-made pistol and a threat letter against JNUSU President Kanhaiya Kumar, were recovered from a bus operating between an ISBT and JNU campus following which Delhi Police is mulling enhancing his security.
The weapon was recovered in a bus operating between Kashmere Gate ISBT and the JNU campus, after the driver spotted an unclaimed bag and raised an alarm.
With the gun, there was also a letter which said that Kanhaiya and Umar Khalid, who were arrested under sedition charge over a controversial event in JNU campus, will be decapitated.
The letter was purportedly written by the person who had threatened Kumar over Facebook earlier saying that men with weapons are already present inside the campus, ready to kill him any moment,
Kumar doesn’t get security cover inside the campus but the university authorities have clearly been instructed to inform Vasant Kunj (North) police station everytime he leaves the campus and security is provided accordingly.

Bassi Police Arrested And Questioned Two JNU Students
These JNU students questioned for five hours
JNU students Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya, surrendered before the police last night,
were arrested in the wee hours today after being questioned for five hours.
As per Police Sources,Before being arrested they were questioned for at least five hours in which the police enquired about their whereabouts and hideouts during the phase when police was looking out for them in connection with the sedition case which led to arrest of JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar,
The Bassi’s police also enquired whether two of them were the main organisers of the February 9 event against the hanging of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru, and whether they were involved in anti-India sloganeering which allegedly took place.
Police is waiting for three more students to surrender.
The duo, who returned to the JNU campus last Sunday after having gone missing since February 12, drove from the administrative block to the main gate of the university, got into a Delhi Police vehicle and were taken to an undisclosed destination last night.
Besides Kumar, Khalid and Bhattacharya, the other students are Rama Naga, Ashutosh Kumar and Anant Prakash.
Delhi Police had issued a look-out notice on February 20 against Khalid, Bhattacharya, Naga, Ashutosh and Prakash.
