Jyotiraditya Scindia said that their path may be different from that of the SP and the BSP but their objective is the same.
Scindia also said that as far as talks for alliances are concerned, “like-minded parties should also think in a like-minded way”.
The AICC general secretary incharge UP west’s remarks assume significance as they come amid reports that there may be a rethink on the grand alliance in Uttar Pradesh to include the Congress.
On Akhilesh Yadav’s remarks that the Congress was very much in the Samajwadi Party-Bahujan Samaj Party-Rashtriya Lok Dal alliance and two seats were being left for it, Scindia said, “If this is his thinking, then we may also leave 2-3 seats for them.”
On leaders in UP like Savitri Bai Phule joining the Congress, Scindia said the party’s doors are open for those who have strength on the ground, want to serve the people and are committed to form a new Uttar Pradesh.
Interestingly, both the Congress and the SP have announced their first list of candidates for some seats in UP.
The Congress on Thursday announced 11 candidates for the electorally crucial state of the UP, fielding UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi from Raebareli and party president Rahul Gandhi from Amethi.
Former Union ministers Salman Khurshid, Jitin Prasad and R P N Singh have been fielded from their traditional seats of Farrukhabad, Dhaurahra and Kushi Nagar respectively.
The Samajwadi Party on Friday released its first list of nine candidates for the Lok Sabha polls in Uttar Pradesh, fielding party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav from its stronghold Mainpuri.
Uttar Pradesh has 80 Lok Sabha seats out of which the Congress had won just two (Amethi and Raebareli) in 2014.

The Samajwadi Party on Friday released a list of six candidates for the Lok Sabha polls in Uttar Pradesh, fielding party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav from its stronghold Mainpuri.
Dharmendra Yadav will contest from Badaun,
Akshay Yadav from Firozabad,
Kamlesh Katheria from Etawah,
Bhailal Kol from Robertsganj and
Shabbir Valmiki from Bahraich,
The list was signed by SP national chief general secretary Ram Gopal Yadav.
The party left Mainpuri, described as its “safest” seat, from Mulayam Yadav, who is MP from Azamgarh right now.
He represented Mainpuri in the Lok Sabha in 1996, 2004 and 2009. In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Mulayam Yadav contested from Azamgarh and Mainpuri and won both.
In Mainpuri, his victory margin was a massive 3.64 lakh votes.

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday joined Twitter and garnered a massive response with tens of thousands following her on the social media platform within hours.
Her logging on to Twitter with the account @priyankagandhi came on the day of her maiden visit to Uttar Pradesh as an AICC general secretary.
“Smt Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is now on Twitter. You may follow her at @priyankagandhi,” a tweet from the Congress’ official Twitter handle said.
She didn’t post a tweet, but followed seven people, including her brother and party chief Rahul Gandhi as well as party leaders Jyotiraditya Scindia, Sachin Pilot, Ashok Gehlot Randeep Singh Surjewala, Ahmed Patel and the Congress’s official account.
49.1 K Twitterites followed her within hours of her joining the microblogging site.
Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi arrived at the Lucknow airport Monday afternoon to a rousing reception by party leaders and workers.
As her ‘rath’ rolled on, it was a selfie galore with enthusiastic partymen taking vantage positions to click prized photographs for posterity.

Punjab cabinet minister Navjot Singh Sidhu’s wife and former MLA Navjot Kaur Sidhu has staked claim to the Congress ticket from Chandigarh in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Now number of contenders for the Congress ticket from the Union Territory has reached three.
Former railway minister Pawan Kumar Bansal and
ex-I&B minister Manish Tewari have also been trying to shift his claim from Ludhiana to Chandigarh
Presently, BJP MP Kirron Kher represents Chandigarh.
Navjot Kaur Sidhu, former MLA from Amritsar (East) and former chief parliamentary secretary, submitted her application to the Chandigarh Territorial Congress Committee on Friday.
Bansal, had been a four-time MP from this prosperous Union Territory, exuded confidence that the party high command would repose faith in him and give him the ticket.

Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora on Thursday asserted that the Election Commission is not going back to ballot papers.
He said ,EVMs are being used as a “football” due to a “motivated slugfest”,
“I would like to make it very, very clear one more time that we are not going back to the era of ballot papers,” Arora said, addressing a gathering ahead of National Voters Day.
He said the poll panel would not take the country back to an era where ballot papers were lifted by musclemen.
“We are open to any criticism and feedback. But we are not going to be bullied. We are going to keep using EVMs,” he said using strong words to defend the machines.
His remarks came days after a self proclaimed cyber expert claimed the machines can be hacked.
Following his claims, several parties Including SP And BSP have demanded the use of ballot papers in the coming Lok Sabha polls.
