Unidentified car-borne persons allegedly shot dead two Punjab Police officers in Jagraon town
Assistant Sub-Inspector Bhagwan Singh died on the spot while critically injured ASI Dalwinder Singh succumbed to injuries on the way to hospital.
Both were posted in the state’s Criminal Investigation Agency (CIA) in Jagraon.
Assailants managed to escape after the incident, which took place near the new grain market.

लुधियाना के गिल रोड इलाके में सोना रखकर कर्ज देने वाली इंडिया इंफोलाइन फाइनेंस लिमिटेड (आईआईएफएल) की शाखा से सोमवार सुबह बदमाशों ने बंदूक के बल पर 25 किलोग्राम से अधिक वजन के सोने के आभूषण लूट लिए। पांच बदमाशों ने वारदात को अंजाम दिया।
पुलिस ने बताया कि सुबह 10.15 बजे चार नकाबपोश आईआईएफएल की शाखा में घुस गए जबकि एक बाहर कार में रूका रहा। उन्होंने बताया कि वारदात के समय शाखा के बाहर कोई सुरक्षाकर्मी तैनात नहीं था।
सहायक पुलिस आयुक्त (एसीपी) संदीप वढेरा ने बताया कि बदमाशों ने वहां मौजूद कर्मियों से उन तिजोरियों की चाबी देने को कहा, जहां सोने के आभूषण रखे हुए थे।
पुलिस ने कहा, ‘उन्होंने शाखा के कर्मचारियों को रस्सी से बांध दिया और 20 मिनट के भीतर ही करीब 25 से 30 किलोग्राम के सोने के आभूषण लेकर फरार हो गए।’
पुलिस आयुक्त राकेश अग्रवाल ने कहा कि लुटेरों के भागने के बाद शाखा के कर्मचारियों ने शोर मचाया। उन्होंने कहा कि मामले की जांच जारी है।
