(New Delhi) Fadnavis asked to Face Litmus Test in Assembly on Wednesday
The floor test in the Maharashtra assembly for Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to prove his majority in the assembly will be conducted on Wednesday, the Supreme Court directed on Tuesday.
The apex court also directed Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari to ensure that all elected members of the house are sworn in on Wednesday itself
The entire exercise has to be
completed by 5 pm.
A bench comprising Justices N V Ramana, Ashok Bhushan and Sanjiv Khanna also said the entire proceedings has to be
telecast live.
Voting in the assembly shall not be on the basis of
(No) secret ballot
The governor will also appoint a pro-tem speaker who will administer oath to the newly elected members.

The executive editor of the Sena’s mouthpiece ‘Saamana’, became the face of the party’s persistent demands for sharing the post of chief minister and equal split in portfolios.
Meanwhile, Sena president Uddhav Thackeray is meeting party legislators at his residence Matoshree.

सो महाराष्ट्र विधानसभा फिलहाल निलंबित अवस्था में रहेगी

As per Sena leader Sanjay Raut ,There have been no talks yet between RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray on government formation in Maharashtra,
Talking to reporters ahead of the meeting of Shiv Sena MLAs with Thackeray, Raut said legislators of his party and the opposition Congress and NCP “would not cross sides”.
The BJP and the Shiv Sena are engaged in a bitter tug-of-war over the latter’s demand for equal distribution of portfolios and sharing the chief minister’s post.
The BJP has rejected the Sena’s demand for sharing the chief minister’s post for two-and-a-half years each.
The tenure of the present Assembly ends on November 9.

The incident took place around 8.30 am on a state highway intersection near Shelgaon Hole village
Sawant, an MLC and state water conservation minister, was not in the SUV (sports utility vehicle) at the time of the accident, he said, adding that its occupants comprised driver Anuradh Surwase (28) and one more person.

This issue was raised by Congress member Amit Deshmukh in the state Assembly through a Calling Attention notice.
Deshmukh said theBrihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) during an inspection in the city recently found that majority of the samples of lemon and sugarcane juices being sold in the open were adulterated.
It was also observed that some farmers used the chemical sewage released from factories in the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) area in Dombivali township of neighbouring Thane district to grow vegetables along the railway lines, he said.
NCP leader Ajit Pawar said the state government had earlier recommended to the Centre that life imprisonment be awarded to those accused of adulterating milk.
Pawar also demanded life sentence for those selling adulterated foods and juices in the open and assured cooperation of opposition parties in bringing such a provision.
From April to May this year, action was taken against 8,012 hawkers and 21,463 kg of food items, 36,054 litre of lemon juice and 1,16,823 kg of ice were seized following inspections in Mumbai, he informed the House.

Several post-graduate medical students withdrew their protest on Tuesday after the Maharashtra governor signed an ordinance to provide quota to the Maratha community members under the Socially and Economically Backward Class (SEBC) category.
Around 250 students were sitting on a protest at the Azad Maidan here for the last two weeks, after the Bombay High Court earlier this month ruled that the 16 per cent quota offered to Marathas will not be applicable on admissions to post-graduate (PG) medical courses this year.
Later, when the Supreme Court also upheld the HC ruling, leading to cancellation of admissions granted to 253 students, the state government took the ordinance route.
On November 30, 2018, the Maharashtra legislature passed a bill proposing 16 per cent reservation for Marathas in government jobs and education under the SEBC category.

The Bombay High Court directed the Maharashtra government to take a decision within eight weeks on a 2017 report submitted by a state-appointed committee to fix fares for app-based cab aggregators Ola and Uber.
In October 2016, the state government had constituted a committee under the chairmanship of retired IAS officer B C Khatua to decide on the minimum and maximum fare structure for companies like Ola and Uber.
The committee had in September 2017 submitted an exhaustive report to the government. But, till date, the government has not taken a final decision on the committee’s report and recommendations.

Maharashtra government today shifted a senior IAS officer from agriculture to administrative reforms department, He faced the ire of Mantralaya staffers for allegedly not an allowing official to leave home early to see to his son who later committed suicide.
Additional Chief Secretary Bhagwan Sahai, who was in the agriculture department before he was asked to go on forced leave, has been shifted as additional chief secretary (administrative reforms),
Three other IAS officers were also transferred today, including
C V Oak, who was transferred as Secretary of State Election Commission.
The Mantralaya employees had last month staged a protest against Sahai and sought his suspension pending an inquiry, for allegedly not letting an official leave for home early.
The official’s son had later committed suicide.
On August 11, Agriculture Department Joint Secretary Rajesh Ghadge sought permission from Sahai to leave for home early as his wife and son were having a fight and he wanted to sort out the matter. Sahai, reportedly, denied his consent.
Later, Ghadge’s son Avadhoot, a Class XII student, committed suicide.
Sahai was sent on forced leave and an inquiry was instituted against him for not allowing his junior colleague to go home early on August 11, despite his son threatening to commit suicide.
The Mantralaya employees also alleged that Sahai had insulted officials and employees, including women, and even threatened to place them under suspension.
