No Doubt Viewer Of Taj Can Not Stop Himself/Herself From Saying Wah Taj But In Fact Pollution Is Turning Wonderful Taj Mahal Yellow.It May Be Added That Entry Fee Has Been Doubled .
The National Green Tribunal has asked the Centre to respond to the plea of an environment enthusiast alleging that large scale burning of municipal solid waste in Agra was turning the Taj Mahal yellow.
The green panel also restrained civic authorities from burning municipal solid waste and other waste in open in Agra and the areas around the eco-sensitive Taj Trapezium Zone.
A bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar issued notices to Ministry of Environment & Forests, Ministry of Urban Development, Uttar Pradesh government, Central Pollution Control Board and others while seeking their reply in two weeks.
The order came on a plea filed by Agra resident and green activist D K Joshi, who claimed a joint study by IIT-Kanpur, Georgia Institute of Technology and University of Wisconsin had revealed that “brown and black carbons along with dust” were responsible for giving yellow tinge to the 17th century white marble monument.
“Subsequent to the report, the parliamentary standing committee on environment passed several directions to the Agra administration to curb pollution in the city.
The drains and canals have been converted into sewer lines which fall directly into River Yamuna without any treatment by the various authorities including Nagar Nigam Agra, Agra Development Authority, Cantonment Board and areas falling under the TTZ Authority

The Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas, Dr. M. Veerappa Moily Took Additional Charge of Ministry of Environment & Forests, in New Delhi on December 24, 2013.
Petroleum Minister, Dr. M. Veerappa Moily today took additional charge of the Ministry of Environment & Forests .
While speaking to media persons after assuming the charge , Dr Moily said “ There is space for everyone … environment, wildlife and mankind.
It is only our mental block which sometime thinks that there is friction and I think that friction will have to end up with fusion. There are already set , rules and laws laid down and we need to perform the duty of regulator. The rules of game will have to be strictly followed. As far as possible nothing should be left for the discretion. Ultimately, we have to go by rules of games which are laid down by the Ministry. He further said that he will not compromise on the green image. ”
Dr Moily was given additional charge of the Environment and Forests Ministry after Ms Jayanthi Natarajan resigned last week .

Ministry of Environment & Forests has started digging into the illegal sand Mining of Gautam Budh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh.
Illegal Sand Mining ,apart from the environment & ecology , has serious political and administrative repercussions. A Committee to Enquire into the Alleged illegal sand Mining in Gautam Budh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh has been Constituted .The ,time framed,Findings of which may reduce the Adverse impacts on environment & ecology +Political+Administration .
During the last few days, various media reports have been highlighting the menace of alleged illegal sand mining in Gautam Budh Nagar,of Uttar Pradesh. This question has been raised on the floors of Parliament also.

It is well known fact that Illegal mining has serious environmental and ecological repercussions. Pursuant to orders of the Hon’ble Supreme Court date 27.02.2012 in SLP ( C) Nos. 19628-19629 of 2009 titled Deepak Kumar etc. Vs State of Haryana & Ors., the handling of prior environment clearance cases of mining of minor minerals, including sand, of lease area upto 5 ha was delegated by this Ministry to the concerned State Environment Impact Assessment Authorities (SEIAAs) vide OM No.L­ 11011/47/2011-lA.ll(M) dated 18.05.2012.
The cases of mining of minor minerals, involving lease area between 5 ha to 50 ha were already being handled by the SEIAAs even before the issuance of this O.M. MoEF deals with the cases of environment clearance in respect of projects of mining of minor minerals with lease area equal to or above 50 ha. No sand mining from any mining lease area EQUAL TO OR ABOVE 50 HA. No sand mining from any mining lease area can take place without obtaining prior environment clearance.
With a view to enquiring into the allegations of illegal sand mining widely reported in the electronic as well as the print media, with visuals of heavy machinery being used in illegal sand mining in Gautam Budh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, in order to ascertain the factual position and with a view to suggesting further course of action in the matter, Ministry of Environment & Forests has constituted the following committee under the chairpersonship of Dr. Saroj, Director, MoEF:-

2. Shri G.C. Meena, Deputy Collector of Mines, Incharge Dehradun office of IBM, Dehradun
3. Shri K. K. Garg, Director, Regional Office of MoEF, LucknowThe secretarial assistance to the Committee will be provided by the Regional Office of MoEF, Lucknow. The Committee will submit its report to the Ministry by 9.8.2013.
