FSSAI found nine variants of Maggi noodles ‘unsafe and hazardous’ for human consumption And asked Nestle to stop their production, import and sale with immediate effect.
Central food safety regulator FSSAI ordered Nestle to recall nine variants of Maggi instant noodles from market.
[1]FSSAI charged Nestle for launching ‘Maggi Oats Masala Noodles’ without product approval and without undertaking risk, safety assessment;
[2].FSSAI says Nestle violated labelling regulations on taste enhancer ‘MSG’, asks company to submit compliance report on its orders within 3 days.
On the other hand company has claimed that No lead is found in 1,000 Maggi batches tested internally:
Nestle CEO said “Our priority is to clarify on safety of product to authorities and be back on shelves as soon as possible” CEO Said “We do not add MSG in Maggi noodles, will remove ‘No MSG’ from product label”
Madhya Pradesh Also banned sale of Maggi noodles
The Madhya Pradesh government has banned the sale of popular instant food Maggi noodles in the state from today, as the popular instant snack came under mounting scrutiny over food safety concerns.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan told reporters at the Mantralaya .”Till it is proved that Maggi noodles are not harmful for the health, there will be a ban in the state on the sale of this noodle,”
The sale of Maggi noodles is already banned in Nepal, Delhi and four more states of Gujarat+Tamil Nadu+Jammu and Kashmir +Uttarakhand after concerns were raised over presence of monosodium glutamate (MSG) and lead beyond permissible levels in the product. .
Bihar has also banned Maggi for one month
