[Chandigarh,Ludhiana] Ludhiana Nagar Nigam Penalized For Delaying Information Under RTI
The State Information Commission during the hearing of a case has held ATP-cum-PIO, O/o Nagar Nigam, Zone-A, Ludhiana guilty of not providing the information under RTI Act in specified time period.
The commission has awarded a sum of Rs.1000 by way of compensation to the appellant and directed the respondent to supply the complete information to the appellant before the next date of the hearing.
The award of compensation to the appellant was pronounced by the full bench of the State Information Commission comprising

Yashvir Mahajan, A.S. Chanduraian, R.S.Nagi, . Chander Parkash (all State Information Commissioners) during the hearing of an appeal in the case of . Ravinder Gosai, Kailash Nagar, Basti Jodhewal, Ludhiana (appellant) Vs Public Information Officer, O/o Nagar Nigam, Ludhiana.
During the hearing of the appeal Ravinder Gosai appellant was present but no one form the respondent turned up.
After close scrutiny of the papers put on record, the full bench of the SIC has found that the respondent office failed to provide the information even after the lapse of more than seven months.
Taking strong view against the respondent for non compliance of RTI Act,The Commission Directed Ankit Midha ATP-cum-PIO, O/o Nagar Nigam, Zone-A, Ludhiana to supply the information to the appellant before the next date of the hearing failing which action under section 20(1) of the RTI, Act will be initiated.
