After Banning Maggi Food Safety Regulator Now Directed Testing of Various Noodles,Pasta and Macaroni Brands.The regulator has ordered the testing of products registered with it.
As per FSSAI order, the companies whose products have been listed for testing are [1]Nestle India[2]ITC[3]Indo Nissin Food Ltd[4]GSK Consumer Helath care[5] CG Foods India[6]Ruchi International [7]AA Nutrition Ltd.
Central food safety regulator [FSSAI] on Monday ordered testing of various noodles, pasta and macaroni brands, including Top Ramen, Foodles and Wai Wai, manufactured by seven companies to check compliance of norms in the wake of Maggi controversy.
Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has also asked for testing of four variants of “Maggi Nutilicious Pazzta with tastemakers”.
The products include Wai Wai noodles and bhujiya chicken snacks by CG Foods; Koka instant noodles from Ruchi International, Foodles by GSK Consumer Helathcare and Nestle’s Maggi instant noodles with nine variants.Others in the list are Indo Nissin’s Top Ramen Aata Masala, ITC’s three variants of instant noodles and Yummy chicken and vegetarian noodles of AA Nutrition.
Comments from these companies could not be obtained immediately.
The development comes after the Indian unit of the Swiss multinational recalled Maggi from the markets after several states banned the famous ‘2-minute’ instant food brand as tests showed them containing taste enhancer MSG (Mono Sodium Glutamate) and lead in excess of the permissible limits.
Meanwhile, FSSAI on Friday banned all 9 variants of Maggi noodles terming them as “unsafe and hazardous” for human consumption. .

[1] Kerala govt stoped distribution of Maggi noodles
Kerala government today issued an order to temporarily stop distribution of Maggi noodles from over 1,000 retail outlets in the state in the wake of Uttar Pradesh FSDA finding monosodium glutamate and lead above permissible limits in the popular snack.
State Food and Civil Supplies Minister Anoop Jacob’s office said an order had been issued to temporarily stop the distribution of Maggi noodles from its retail outlets in the state fortwith till the veracity of the dispute is resolved.
Kerala State Civil Supplies corporation, also known as Supplyco, has around 1,400 outlets throughout the state.
The Centre had made it clear yesterday that Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is testing more Maggi samples collected from different states following the detection of monosodium glutamate and lead in excess of the prescribed limit in the noodles.

Lab testing reports established Maggi samples unsafe in national capital

The BJP Government in Haryana today ordered random lifting of Maggi noodles’s samples from across the state for laboratory testing after allegations of lapses in food safety standards came to the fore.
Haryana’s Health Minister, Anil Vij told to media today
.”We have taken cognizance of reports of alleged lapses of food safety standards in Maggi noodles. I have ordered my department to lift samples of these noodles from across the state for laboratory testing,”
Vij said that he has asked the State’s Director General of Health Services to direct all Chief Medical Officers in the state to depute staff to lift the samples from every district.
When asked where these samples will be tested, Vij said, “We have good laboratories in our state. Moreover, if need arises, we can also get the samples tested from reputed laboratories outside the state as well”.He further said that if lapses in food safety standards are found after the tests, the state government will take strict action.

Case Lodged Against Nestle India For Just Two Minute Maggi
A case was lodged today against Nestle India in Barabanki court over safety standards of its Maggi product, while actors Amitabh Bachhan+ Madhuri Dixit Naine+ Preity Zinta have also been separately dragged to the court for promoting the ‘two-minute’ noodles brand.
While the case against Nestle India and five others was filed by the UP food regulator FSDA (Food Safety and Drug Administration), a local advocate filed a separate case against the three cine personalities.
“Following FSDA Commissioner P P Singh’s permission to file a case against Nestle India, a case has been filed in the court of ACJM (Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate) here,” Barabanki Food Safety Officer V K Pandey said to PTI .
The case has been lodged against the company’s Nestle Nagal Kalan Industrial Area unit (Haroli, Una in HP), Delhi-based Nestle India Limited, an Easy Day outlet in Barabanki and the Delhi-based parent firm Easy Day, as also against and their FMCG (fast moving consumer goods)
The FSDA had found monosodium glutamate and lead in excess of the prescribed limit in Maggi samples tested by it.
The FSDA had collected the samples from the Easy Day store in Barabanki and had sent the consignment for testing, which showed that the quantum of lead present was 17 times more than the stipulated limit, which is considered hazardous.
The Union Consumer Affairs Ministry has also asked the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India to look into the matter while Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said yesterday that a class action suit can also be initiated in the matter if a complaint is lodged in this regard with the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC).
The second case has been lodged by a local advocate in Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court against the cine stars for promoting Maggi noodles, saying they have been found to be harmful for public health.
