Prime Minister Of India Narendra Modi today inaugurated a new terminal at Chandigarh airport which will handle both domestic as well as international flights.
Modi dedicated to the nation the modern facility which is expected to boost the economic and industrial development in Punjab, +Haryana + Himachal Pradesh.
The ambitious Rs 939-crore project, which is being seen as a “harbinger” of regional development for the northern part of the country, will be operated and maintained by Chandigarh International Airport Ltd (CHIAL), a joint venture between Airports Authority of India (AAI) and the governments of Punjab and Haryana.
AAI has 51 % stake in the project while Punjab and Haryana have 24.5 per cent equity each.
Governor of Punjab and Haryana and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh, Kaptan Singh Solanki, Union Minister for Civil Aviation, P Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal and his Haryana counterpart Manohar Lal Khattar were among those present on the occasion.

[New Delhi]FAA Upgrades Indian Civil Aviation Management to Category-I Status Director General Of Civil Aviation Is Upgraded to Category-I Status.
Secretary, US Department of Transportation, Anthony Foxx informed the Minister of Civil Aviation P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju that Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has conveyed that Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has been upgraded to Category-I status. He was leading a high level US delegation for a meeting with Civil Aviation Minister and key officers of the Ministry here today.
This meeting succeeded the series of meetings held by US President Barack Obama and the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. On the occasion, a presentation was made on the growth of civil aviation sector in India to identify areas in which partnership, technical cooperation and “Make in India” can be developed. During the meeting, opportunities of collaboration in development of infrastructure, air safety, aviation security, skill development, MROs, National Aviation University and manufacture of aircrafts were discussed. Two sides agreed to develop a productive relationship by establishing a Joint Working Group between the two countries.
The US delegation included Ms. Susan Kurland, Assistant Secretary for Aviation and International Affairs and Ms. Leocadia Zak, Director US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA).

Minister of Civil Aviation Shri P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju today inaugurated the e-office governance in the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Airports Authority of India’s Single Window Clearance to Communication Masts through SACFA – NOCAS Integration.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister highlighted the importance of e-governance and elaborated upon the arrangements made in the Ministry of Civil Aviation under this programme. He particularly highlighted the importance of transparency and accountability through which both efficiency and effectiveness are derived. The salient features of the e-office are as under:
Shri V. Somasundaran, Secretary, Civil Aviation gave a detailed account of the e-office programme which was followed by a presentation and as part of the live demonstration an active file was forwarded by the Secretary to the Minister which was cleared by the Minister online.
