PMK Demands Full Tax Exemption For Senior Citizens

[Chennai,TN]PMK Demands Income Tax Exemption Limit To Rs 5 Lakh
PMK chief S Ramadoss today urged the Centre to increase the income tax exemption limit for individuals from the Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 5 lakh.
He said it was the demand of the salaried class for many years that the income tax exemption limit should be considerably increased.
He said the tax rate should be capped at 10 % for income upto Rs ten lakh,
20 % for income between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 20 lakh and
30 % beyond that threshold.
The Union budget has raised expectations among public since the general and railway budgets were being presented together after 92 years,
Demanding full tax exemption for senior citizens, he said the import duty on gold should be either fully waived or it must be cut down to 5%

Opposition parties in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, including DMK and DMDK, today staged a walkout after Speaker P Dhanapal denied them permission to raise some issue.
Soon after the Question Hour ended, DMK Legislator Durai Murugan tried to raise some issue but the Speaker did not allow it, saying the matter was under his consideration and that he could take it up later.
However, DMDK and Left party MLAs also joined DMK and were seen insisting the Speaker to take up the issue for discussion.
They remained standing and were seen arguing with Dhanapal, who was firm in not allowing the matter to be discussed today.
He said he did not allow any of the remarks made by the MLAs to go on record.
After the repeated pleas by the opposition failed to yield any result, DMK, DMDK, Left and PMK staged a walkout from the House.
