Swaraj Abhiyan Leaders Says that Its a travesty that a prime govt land in the heart of the national capital, right in front of the PM’s residence is being used for betting & illegal gambling. Its a shame that a government which wants to acquire the land of farmers for “public purpose” is letting this happen. The lease has expired in 1998 but the private club continues to run And Minting Money openly which exposes its collusion with govt authorities.

Swaraj Abhiyan leaders Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav today staged a protest outside the Delhi Race Course, demanding that the site be converted into a memorial for farmers and a ‘Kisan Haat’ be opened on the lines of Delhi Haat as the land was forcibly acquired.
Swaraj Abhiyan claimed that the land, which was part of Malcha village, was being acquired by the Britishers when they shifted the capital from Calcutta to Delhi. However, while the landing was being “forcible” acquired and the farmers were being offered “pittance” as compensation.
“The land was acquired from the farmers under the guise of public purpose and it is now being used by as a gambling den in front of the Prime Minister’s House. Is this why land acquisition ordinance is needed? Is this public use?
“Swaraj Abhiyan demands Race Course land be used as memorial for farmers who died in forcible land acquisition in independent India or those who were forced to commit suicides due to discrimination and neglect of agriculture by successive governments,” said activist-lawyer Prashant Bhushan.
He added the remaining place should be used as Kisan Haat where farmers can come and sell their organic products.
Swaraj Abhiayan said the lease of the land expired in 1998, but the land has still not been taken back by the government.
“Delhi Race Club land not taken back by government after expiration. Hints to collusion of public authority with private interests.
The Urban Development Ministry served eviction notice to Club on 25 October 1999 but after that public authorities have been lax.
“Delhi Race Club lease expired in 1998 and has not been renewed. Club has been allowed to carry on its operations.
Nonetheless Delhi Race Club made a profit of Rs 2.31 crore in the financial year ending 31 March, 2013. It has an odd practice: it charges Rs 4,000 as daily ‘Mobile Phone Permission'(Entry Fee of Rs 60 without the phone!),” Swaraj Abhiyan tweeted through its twitter handle.
Swaraj Abhiyan said it has given a notice to the Prime Minister regarding this, failing which they will use “peaceful” and “democratic” ways to fulfil their demands, giving a hint that a legal course could be taken in this matter.

In an offensive against the Delhi government over its recent advertistment, Swaraj Abhiyan leader Yogendra Yadav today accused the AAP government of indulging in “political corruption” by resorting to such means.
Yadav said the government was using public money in glorifying one person despite the restrictions by the Supreme court against such ads.
“This is a form of political corruption as it is using the public money for the advertisments.
“The AAP had come to power by promising new type of politics. But by coming up with such advertisment, it is getting into the league of Mayawati and Jayalalitha,” the former AAP leader, who was expelled from the party after he upped ante against Kejriwal,
Last week, another Swaraj Abhiyaan leader and activists lawyer Prashant Bhushan in a series of tweets said the ad amounted to a “crass” projection of Kejriwal apart from being “crude abuse” of funds, which was “against” a Supreme Court order.

Yogendra Yadav+Prashant Bhushan+Ajit Jha+Prof. Anand Kumar Are Expelled From The Ruling “AAP” Party
The National Disciplinary Committee met on April 20, 2015 at 6 pm at 514, VP House to decide on the complaints against Mr. Yogendra Yadav, Mr. Prashant Bhushan, Mr. Anand Kumar and Mr. Ajit Jha.
On the request of the respondents, the Committee had earlier extended the deadline for submitting their explanations by one day, that is, to 3 pm on April 20, 2015. However the committee received the responses of Mr. Yadav, Mr. Bhushan and Kumar while Mr. Jha failed to furnish his response within the prescribed time.
The Committee carefully considered responses But found them unsatisfactory.
The Committee reached the unanimous conclusion that Mr. Yogendra Yadav, Mr. Prashant Bhushan and Mr. Anand Kumar had indulged in gross indiscipline and anti-party activities. They have violated the Code of Conduct detailed in Article VI A (a) of Party’s Constitution.
The Committee is of the view that Mr. Ajit Jha failed to furnish his response in stipulated time despite sufficient time to his disposal. After examining the evidence put before it, the Committee is of unanimous view that Mr. Ajit Jha is also guilty of gross indiscipline and indulging into anti-party activities.
The Committee, therefore, has decided to expel all the four members from the party.
