As per Cooperation Minister, Punjab, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa , Punjab Government has decided to ensure installation of reflectors atop the trolleys fetching sugarcane to the cooperative sugar mills. He also announced that these reflectors would be installed free of cost on every trolley bringing sugarcane to the cooperative sugar mills across the state.
Minister said that during the winter season the farmers take sugarcane to the sugar mills in the trolleys but there is always the danger of mishaps lurking ahead owing to the dense fog which reduces the visibility. He also said that if the reflectors are installed then the vehicle visible from afar thus avoiding accidents.

As per The Technical Education Minister, Punjab, Mr. Charanjit singh Channi ,parents and the students are not aware regarding field of study suitable for their children after completion of matric and higher secondary studies.
The minister also informed that the Punjab Government would run self-employment training courses for Agriculture & Allied Services under skill development mission. He said that Punjab Skill Development mission would provide skill training to the farmers and others to bring in focus issues such as diversification, doubling the income of farmers, arrest of depleting water tables and distress in farmers.
Technical Education Minister said that the Punjab Agricultural University and the Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University would run the skill development courses for Agriculture and Allied services.
He said that the Secretary, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) in principle also gave approval to set up Indian Institute of Skills in the Punjab Skill University, which is to be set up at Sri Chamkaur Sahib
State Minister said that the Union ministry has also approved grant for the Skills Competition to be held in the state before the India Skills competition. After this, the world skills competition would be held at Kazan Russia in 2019.

Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister, Punjab, Navjot Singh Sidhu today met Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Union Tourism Minister Mr. K.J. Alphons and Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Mr. Hardeep Singh Puri to seek the Union Government`s assistance for further developing religious and heritage memorials besides carrying out a comprehensive revamping of the sites related with National Valour in Punjab.
As per Sidhu the Union Tourism Minister has cleared Punjab Government`s project worth Rs. 100 crores out of which Rs. 32 Crore would be spent on infrastructural development and facilitation of pilgrims at Sri Anandpur Sahib.
In further bonanza for Punjab, Mr. Sidhu elaborated that the Union Minister also gave nod to Rs. 20 Crore for Fatehgarh Sahib, Rs. 18 Crore for Chamkaur Sahib, Rs. 10 Crore for Jallianwala Bagh, Rs. 15 crore for Hussainiwala and Khatkar Kalan memorials related with Shaheed-E-Azam Bhagat Singh, Raj Guru and Sukhdev, Rs. 3 crore for Saragarhi apart from Rs. 2 Crore for Kalanaur. Mr. Sidhu also gave detailed presentation of Punjab Government`s futuristic vision in this regard.

Senior BJP leader L K Advani has condoled the death of former Punjab chief minister Surjit Singh Barnala and said his demise was a loss to the people of the state.
“Barnala was a very popular, dynamic leader.
He has contributed a lot for the development and progress of Punjab in his long political career in Indian politics…his demise is a loss to the people of Punjab,” Advani said in his condolence message.
Barnala, who served as chief minister of Punjab from 1985 to 1987, died at the age of 91 in a hospital in Chandigarh yesterday.
He had also served as Governor of Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands

स्वतंत्रता दिवस के उपलक्ष्य में राज्य में विभिन्न स्थानों पर आयोजित समारोहों के लिए बच्चों द्वारा शानदार कार्यक्रम पेश करने के लिए किए गए प्रयासों को देखते हुए पंजाब सरकार ने [कल१७ अगस्त , सोमवार ]को सभी स्कूलों में अवकाश की घोषणा कर दी है।
एक आधिकारिक प्रवक्ता ने बताया कि मुख्यमंत्री वयोवृद्ध प्रकाश सिंह बादल ने इस बारे में घोषणा की है।
एस ऐ डी सुप्रीमो SADबादल ने फैसला किया है कि स्वतंत्रता दिवस समारोहों में भागीदारी के लिए बच्चों की तैयारी को देखते हुए राज्य के सभी स्कूल सोमवार को बंद रहेंगे।
