Gurtej Singh Secretary cooperative society was caught red handed on the complaint of Ajaib Singh of village Baran, Patiala district.
As per complainant Gurtej Singh was demanding Rs. 45,000 from him to waive off his agriculture loan which was being written off under state debt relief plan and he had already paid Rs. 35,000 as a first installment.
Apart from this Sub Inspector Om Parkash Handa posted at CIA Ferozepur was also nabbed red handed while accepting bribe of Rs. 10,000
As per complainant Pala Singh resident of Basti Amrik Singh Wali, Ferozepur district. accused Police Officer has been demanding Rs. 15000 to release his motorcycle confiscated by police.

Punjab State Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing campaign against corruption, has been able to nab 12 officials red handed accepting bribes in 9 different trap cases during the month of July, This catch includes 6 police personnel, 3 employees of revenue department and 3 belonging to other departments.
As per chief director-cum-ADGP vigilance bureau Punjab B.K. Uppal said the VB has put up its best efforts to stamp out corruption amongst public servants and others in every sphere during the period. In this direction, the vigilance officers have ensured that suspect did not escape judicial punishment in the various courts in the State,
Bureau had submitted challans pertaining to 12 vigilance cases in various special courts in the last month. Apart from this, 7 vigilance enquires have also been registered to thoroughly probe the corruption cases against public servants. In addition to this 2 criminal cases have also been registered after through probe.

sentence for assassinating former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh,
District and Sessions Judge Tarsem Mangla acquitted jagtar Singh Hawara in the attempt to murder case as the prosecution failed to secure evidence against him.
Hawara was brought from Tihar Jail and produced in the court under tight security.
Hawara and two others had been booked by the police for allegedly trying to kill Constable Jasbir Singh in 2010.
A case had been registered against Hawara and the two under various sections of the Indian Penal Code on January 19, 2010.
The police in its investigation report told the court that the prosecution has not been able to gather sufficient evidence against him.
The other two accused have already being acquitted by the court.

The Punjab Police has issued a new transfer policy which, among other things, caps the maximum tenure of SHOs and Munshis to three years.
Under this new policy, the tenure of an Station House Officer (SHO) and a Munshi at a police station has been capped to a maximum of three years, and that of constables and Head constables to five years,
Besides, it was decided that no SHO in-charge of a police station shall be posted in his home sub-division, he said.
The new transfer policy also provides that no upper or lower subordinate shall remain posted in the same district after registration of a criminal case against him/her in the district. In such cases,
Under the new policy, the minimum tenure of a SHO in-charge of a police station shall be one year, which can be extended up to three years by the SSP concerned or the commissioner of police by mentioning specific reasons.
