Punjab Police,Campaigning for Traffic Awareness,Recovered Rs 42 Cr
As per DGP Punjab Suresh Arora ,The incidence of accidental deaths in the state has come down sharply by 16%. this has resulted in decline of 11% person in injured persons in the state and saving of roughly 4000 precious lives.
Punjab’s Top Cop said that acting strictly against the violators of traffic in the state the Punjab Police has also issued challans to around 7 lakh erring people and recovered Rs 42 crore as penalty from them.
Congratulating the youth which had gathered in thousands, the DGP said it a proud moment for Punjab that a message on importance of helmet was originating from Jalandhar and spreading in whole world with this record attempt of maximum number of people wearing helmets. On the occasion thousands of persons gathered at the venue wearing helmets to spread the message.
The Punjab Police joined in campaign and both the organizations distributed more than 8000 helmets.

DGP Suresh Arora held a video conference today with all SSPs, DIG Ranges, IGP Zones and Commissioners of Police in this regard, in which DGP had directed the top officials to ensure that there is no laxity in this regard.
The DGP also directed the SSPs to conduct regular meetings with contractors, who have secured the mining contracts legally, to facilitate quick redressal of their grievances. These initiatives come in the wake of the cabinet decision

The sad incident took place when a group of students were staging a dharna at a college campus, protesting against the alleged thrashing of a couple of students a few days back,
As per local police , Illfated Dy SP, Baljinder Singh Sandhu, reached there to pacify the protesters, some of them questioned the “integrity” of the Dy SP
Then He pointed his weapon towards his head and fired a shot,”

Sandhu was rushed to a government hospital where he was declared brought dead,

Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh today stormed a police station , accusing the SHO of threatening party workers and asking them to join the Akali Dal.
The Punjab Congress chief warned the SHO to stop the alleged harassment of party workers failing which he will dismiss him when the Congress comes to power.
PCC president went to the Kotli Surat Malhi Police Station to lodge the protest.
One of the party workers confronted the SP in-charge of the police station, with “evidence” that the SHO had asked him to join Akali Dal. He said, when he refused, he was allegedly slapped with a false case.
The SHO and the DSP were not present in the police station when the former Chief Minister visited there.
The workers alleged that a lot of cases have been registered at the instance of the Akali leaders.
Amarinder said he will use the special powers vested with the government to dismiss all such cops if the Congress comes to power. “I did it in 2002 and I will do it again in case the cops do not mend their ways”, he warned.
