Under intense attack, HRD Minister Smriti Irani today made a forceful statement in Lok Sabha, saying Kanhaiya Kumar and some other students had been found indulging in anti-national activities by the JNU authorities themselves.
She also made an emotional pitch with regard to the suicide by Dalit student Rohith Vemula of Hyderabad University, insisting that her ministry had no role in his death and the deceased himself had said in his suicide note that nobody should be held responsible for his action.
Replying to the charged day-long debate on recent incidents in JNU and Hyderabad University during which the government faced opposition onslaught, a combative Smt Irani said she was being targeted by Congress for contesting against Rahul Gandhi in Amethi Parliamentary constituency.
“I will not seek forgiveness for doing my duty…you (Congress members) never wanted to listen to my reply,” she said aloud, as the Congress members, Left parties and Trinamool Congress staged a walkout as she was speaking.
During last 20 months as Minister, Irani said she tried to do justice to students by trying to address their complaints without asking for their “caste or religion”.She has cleared more then 61 thousands grievances in just 20 months that too without asking caste+religion
Rejecting the charge of saffronising education, she said, she would quit politics if it was established she made any attempt to do so.
Most of the vice chancellors are Congress appointees, Irani said, adding she had asked them to listen to the students who come from different backgrounds and address their issues.
“Help me build the nation, not destroy it from within,” she said stressing, “I respect your patriotism, don’t demean mine… I have my idea of India…don’t demean it.”
Citing documents, she said, report by JNU’s security people observed that some students were indulging in anti-national sloganeering even though the students had sought permission to hold a “poetry” event.
Those involved in the programme which include Umar Khalid, Kanhayia Kumar and others, she said, were suspended by the JNU authorities though they were allowed to stay on the campus till completion of the inquiry.
Earlier too, Irani said some students and professors had taken out rallies in support of Afzal Guru, who was hanged for his role in attack on Parliament, and burnt the effigy of Home Ministry.
Hanging of Afzal Guru was described by the activists as “judicial murder”, she said, adding it amounted to rising against Supreme Court and the Indian state.

[New Delhi] Rahul Visited JNU,Voiced Solidarity With Agitating Students And Accused NDA of Suppressing Students Voice. ABVP Activists Showed Black Flags
Rahul Gandhi accused NDA government of “suppressing” students’ voice as he visited the JNU campus On 13th Feb to express solidarity with them, a day after the arrest of its students’ union president Kanhaiya Kumar in a sedition case.
The Congress Vice President, who had yesterday accused the Modi government of “bullying” the institution, scaled up the attack saying “most anti-national are people, who are suppressing the voice of students in this institution”.
Accompanied by Delhi PCC chief and former Union minister Anand Sharma, Rahul interacted with the agitating students and lauded the university for representing free voice.
Drawing parallel between the actions against students in JNU and events leading to the suicide of Dalit scholar Rohith Vemula in Hyderabad University, he said the question is why a student is “not allowed to say what he believes in”.
Noting that India is progressing because more and more people are raising their voice, Rahul said that everybody has a right to disagree.
In his speech marked by frequent disruptions, Rahul said that he will be happy to see even people from RSS and BJP express their opinion.
Training his guns on the government, he said, “They will not understand that in crushing you, they are making you stronger.”
His visit was opposed by members of ABVP, who waved black flags when he spoke. Taking note of it, he said, “People who showed black flags on my face, I feel proud that in my country they have the right to show black flags

Modi says Gandhis Disrupting Parl to Avenge Poll Defeat,Rahul Calls It Accuse

[Moran ,Assam]Modi says Gandhi family disrupting Parl to avenge poll defeat,Rahul Says Stop Accusation And Start Act
, Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the Congress President and her son Rahul Gandhi of disrupting Parliament to avenge defeat in 2014 Lok Sabha polls and hence blocking the passage of bills aimed at benefitting the poor
Addressing tea garden workers in this poll-bound state of northeast Indian state Assam, Modi alleged that “one family” was indulging in “negative politics” as he claimed that there are leaders in opposition parties other than Congress who want Parliament to function even though they oppose him
“Those who have lost the election (in 2014) and have come down from 400 to 40 have decided not to allow Modi to work
They have decided to create obstacles and difficulties. The conspiracy for the same is going on,” he said, referring clearly to Congress.
“They have now decided to take revenge from people, from the poor workers” for voting the Congress out of power
His remarks came against the backdrop of washout of the last two sessions of Parliament because of which key economic reform measures, including GST, have been pending and are expected to be pushed by the government during the upcoming Budget session starting on February 23
Modi Said “There are many leaders and parties who oppose Modi+ BJP + government but they want Parliament to run and carry out is business but one family is so rigid that they do not allow the Rajya Sabha to function and let the nation’s agenda of development to be taken forward because people of the country have defeated them,”
Though the Prime Minister did not name the “family”, the reference was obviously to the Sonia Gandhi family
He listed a number of pending bills, including one for increasing the income ceiling for bonus to workers and the other related to river transport on Brahmaputra, and put the blame for their pendency squarely on Congress and particularly the Gandhi family

[Mumbai] Rahul Gandhi Desires Politicians To Stay Away From cricket
Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi today made a strong pitch for politicians to stay away from cricket administration.
During an interaction with management students at a leading business school , Gandhi was asked if politicians should stay away from cricket and sports.
Gandhi replied .”I don’t think politicians should be anywhere near the administration of cricket. Cricket should be run by cricketers. I don’t think politicians should be running cricket,”
The Congress leader claimed the Pathankot terror attack was mishandled by the Modi government.
He said.”The best experts on dealing with terrorism, foreign policy are not being consulted. NSA is dealing (with the attack) directly. His job is strategy, not tactics which is the job of NSG. When you let people who don’t know what to do, do it, you get into a problem,”
“You can’t totally prevent terror attacks but you can react in the right way. The main issue is how do we respond.
he said.
During the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, the then UPA government consulted all senior people.
He Claimed that We completely marginalised Pakistan. Now, the way it is being handled is ad hoc,”
“We ensured peace in Kashmir,” “The biggest problem India is facing today is massive centralisation of power. Everything is being done by three or four or five-six people. He Warned “You can’t solve problems by centralising power,”
“Exports and the rupee are collapsing. The impact of fuel price cuts is not being passed on to the consumers. There is a complete failure of management of economy,” Gandhi said.
“The current PM used to ridicule our PM (Manmohan Singh) on the economy. Now, my advise to this PM is get to work,” he said.
“We (Congress) are not just 40 plus people in Lok Sabha we are 20 per cent vote of the country,” Gandhi said.

Congress Leaders Sought&Got Bail In National Herald Fraud case:Next Date 20th Fef

[New Delhi]Congress Leaders Get Unconditional Bail In National Herald Fraud case Next hearing date is at 2 PM on February 20, of next year.
Congress President Smt Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul today sought and got bail in the National Herald case after a local court rejected complainant Subramanian Swamy’s opposition to the relief for them on the ground they are influential and can flee the country.
Amidst media hype and hoopla and tight security, Sonia and Rahul and three other accused Motilal Vora, Oscar Fernandes and Suman Dubey appeared before Metropolitan Magistrate Lovleen in the Patiala House courts complex in the heart of the capital in pursuance of the summons issued to them on Dec 8.
The case is based on a private criminal complaint lodged by Swamy against them of cheating, conspiracy and criminal breach of trust.
“The accused are reputed persons having deep political grassroots and there is no apprehension that they will flee,” the Magistrate noted while granting them bail on furnishing personal bond of Rs.50,000 each and one surety. He posted the case for further hearing at 2 PM on February 20, next year.
Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh stood surety for Sonia, while Priyanka Vadra gave surety for her brother Rahul.
A K Antony stood surety for Fernandes and Ghulam Nabi Azad and Ajay Maken for the other accused. Sam Pitroda, yet another accused, was granted exemption from personal appearance today on medical grounds.

“AAP”Now Targets Rahul Also Over SlumDemolition Issue:Calls Him a “Child”

[New Delhi] “AAP” Now Lashes out at Rahul Gandhi Also Over Slum Demolition Issue
As a political slugfest broke out over slum demolition issue, AAP today hit back at Rahul Gandhi alleging such actions were also carried out under Congress rule while Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal called him a “child”.
Aam Aadmi Party and Trinammol Congress protested near the Mahatma Gandhi statue outside Parliament condemning the demolition by Railways in Shakur Basti area of West Delhi after it was blamed for the death of an infant.
AAP also protested in Parliament over the issue after Speaker Sumitra Mahajan rejected an adjournment motion moved by it.
Taking a swipe at Rahul Gandhi, who said that both Kejriwal government and Modi government were responsible for the situation after visiting the site, AAP leader Ashutosh said his statements reflect the reasons behind Congress’ defeat in Lok Sabha polls, in which it was reduced to 44 seats.
This is Rahul-used to talk about Kalavati,” AAP leader Ashutosh said on Twitter.
Lashing out at the Congress Vice President, Kejriwal tweeted, “Rahul Gandhi is still a child. His party probably did not tell him that Railway comes under the central government, and not under the Government of Delhi.”
Kejriwal’s remark came as Rahul Gandhi reportedly questioned why AAP MPs were protesting outside Parliament when it is their government that rules Delhi.
AAP leader Sanjay Singh said the Congress leader is suffering from “memory-loss” or his attacks on Kejriwal government are because of a possible “deal” struck between the Modi government and him in the Natioanl Herald case.
“Where were Congress activists when Home Minister Satyendar Jain and AAP Delhi unit convenor Dilip Pandey were at the site trying to halt the demolitions. Rahul Gandhi is suffering from memory loss. These jhuggis were demolished earlier as well and the Congress was in power both at the Centre and the state.
“Perhaps, a deal must been struck between Modi and Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case which is why he is targeting the Kejriwal government,” Singh tweeted.
AAP sources said the matter will be raised in the Rajya Sabha by TMC and JD(U).
A fresh confrontation raged between the Arvind Kejriwal Government and Centre over the death of the infant girl at the slum cluster in West Delhi that was demolished by Railways.
The AAP government has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the demolition drive and death of the six-month girl though railways has said that the incident had “nothing to do with removal of encroachments”.
Kejriwal has also sought a meeting with Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu over the issue. .

In a blow to Aggressive Congress President Smt Sonia Gandhi and her Active son Rahul Gandhi, Delhi High Court today dismissed their pleas challenging summons issued to them in the National Herald case in which they have to appear before the trial court tomorrow.
“Petitions are dismissed,” Justice Sunil Gaur said in his judgement while also declining another of their plea for exemption from personal appearance in the lower court.
The Gandhis and the other five accused–Suman Dubey+Moti Lal Vohra+Oscar Fernandez+Sam Pitroda +Young India Ltd–will have to appear in the trial court tomorrow, before which the case will come up.
It also refused to extend the August 6, 2014 interim order by which the summons were stayed.
“No,” Justice Gaur said in response to oral pleas by senior advocate Harin Raval, appearing for the accused, that either an exemption from personal appearance be granted or the August 6, 2014 order staying the summons be extended.
The court, in its judgement, has also questioned the need for extending interest-free loan to Associated Journals Ltd (AJL) the publishers of National Herald. “Where was need to extend interest free loan,”
The trial court had on June 26 last year summoned all the above accused to appear before it on August 7, 2014 on Swamy’s complaint.
The Congress leaders had, thereafter, on July 30, 2014, moved the high court which had stayed the summons on August 6 last year.
Thereafter, on December 15, 2014, the court had stayed the summons till final disposal of the petitions.

Congress Today Protested Demanding Action Against BJP Leader VK Singh
MPs led by Rahul Gandhi today staged a protest outside Parliament house demanding removal of Union Minister V K Singh for his “dog” remarks.
Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, Leader of Congress in Lok Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, party leaders Anand Sharma, Deepender Hooda and several others participated in the protest held shortly before the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha assembled for the day.
VK Singh had kicked up a storm in October with his comments that the Centre cannot be blamed if somebody throws a stone at a dog to shield it from criticism for the Faridabad Dalit burning incident, prompting opposition to demand his ouster.
Singh, who is Minister of State for External Affairs, has been under opposition fire for allegedly using ‘dog analogy’ to refute allegations of inaction levelled against the government in the aftermath of two Dalit children being burned alive in Haryana.
The government side has been insisting that Singh had not made any such comment about Dalits and there is no reason for the Opposition to raise the issue
