[New Delhi] PM ‘Modi’ Returns From Japan,Having Civil Nuclear Deal In Bucket
Prime Minister Of India Narendra Modi returned home tonight after concluding his three-day visit to Japan during which the two countries signed a landmark civil nuclear deal and nine other agreements in various fields.
“Sayonara Japan! An important friendship stands strengthened as PM @narendramodi enplanes from Osaka for the journey back to Delhi,” External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Vikas Swarup had tweeted on departure.
Before his departure, Modi addressed a luncheon gathering of business leaders in Kobe, a city on Osaka Bay.
He also travelled in Japan’s famed high-speed Shinkansen bullet train, which is being introduced in India on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad stretch, with his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe.
During the visit, India and Japan signed 10 pacts covering a range of areas such as boosting Japanese investment in infrastructure, railways, and for cooperation in space and agriculture, as part of agreements to bolster bilateral ties.
Shedding its reservations, Japan yesterday made an exception to sign a landmark civil nuclear deal with India, opening the door for export of its atomic technology and reactors, after adding features like safety and security keeping in mind its sensitivities on the issue.
The nuclear deal, described as historic by Prime Minister Modi, was part of the ten agreements signed between the two countries.
Modi and Abe held wide-ranging talks which covered aspects like trade and investment, security, terrorism, cooperation in skill development, aerospace and people-to-people contacts.
While on his way to Japan, the Prime Minister had made a brief stopover in Thailand to pay respects to revered King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who died last month after a protracted illness

Japan to work with India in finding Sickle Cell Anaemia remedy
Japan today agreed to work with India in inventing treatment for the Sickle Cell Anaemia after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi sought help for finding remedy to the deadly disease commonly found among tribals in India.

The P M, Shri Modi, today visited the ancient Toji Temple in Kyoto. He was accompanied on the visit to this Buddhist shrine, by the Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe.
Indian Prime Minister also visited the Golden Pavilion – the Kinkaku-ji Temple – at Kyoto, where he interacted with a number of visitors who greeted him enthusiastically.
The Prime Minister visited CiRA – Center for iPS Cell Research and Application, at Kyoto University. He interacted with the Center’s Director, Mr. Shinya Yamanaka. The Prime Minister expressed concern over the prevalence of sickle cell anaemia, especially among tribal communities across India. The Prime Minister urged Mr. Yamanaka to work towards a cure for this. Mr. Yamanaka said that there are currently no Indian researchers at his institute, and he would like Indian scientists to conduct research at the institute

भारत सरकार और जापान के बीच आज जापान में क्योटो के राजकीय अतिथि गृह में प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेन्द्र मोदी की मौजूदगी में वाराणसी- क्योटो साझेदार शहर संबद्धता समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए गए। समझौते पर जापान में भारत की राजदूत श्रीमती दीपा गोपालन वाधवा तथा क्योतो के मेयर दाइसाको कादोकावा ने हस्ताक्षर किए। इस समझौते का जोर विरासत संरक्षण तथा कला-संस्कृति और शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में सहयोग पर है। यह समझौता स्मार्ट विरासत शहर कार्यक्रम के लिए ढांचे के रूप में भी काम करेगा।
जापान के प्रधानमंत्री श्री शिंजो आबे ने ,इससे पूर्व, राजकीय अतिथि गृह में प्रधानमंत्री की अगवानी की। श्री आबे प्रधानमंत्री की व्यक्तिगत रूप से आगवानी के लिए तोक्यो से क्योटो पहुंचे।
श्री नरेन्द्र मोदी ने जापान के प्रधानमंत्री की उपस्थिति में रंग बिरंगी मछलियों को दाना भी खिलाया। श्री आबे ने श्री मोदी के सम्मान में रात्रि भोज दिया। शाही अतिथि गृह की भव्यता के बीच प्रधानमंत्री श्री मोदी अपने मेजबान जापान के प्रधानमंत्री श्री आबे के साथ डेढ घंटे से अधिक समय तक भोज की मेज पर परंपरागत जापानी भोज के साथ मैत्रीपूर्ण वार्ता के लिए बैठे। दोनों नेताओं ने पारस्परिक सम्मान और प्रशंसा के साथ विभिन्न विषयों पर बातचीत की।
दोनों प्रधानमंत्रियों ने दोनों देशों के बीच प्राचीन सांस्कृतिक तथा धार्मिक संपर्कों पर भी बातचीत की। दोनों नेताओं ने प्रधानमंत्री श्री मोदी की जापान की पुरानी राजधानी तथा प्रमुख बौद्ध मत केंद्र क्योटो की यात्रा से भारत-जापान संबंधों की अध्यात्मिक आधार के आकर्षण को समझा। दोनों नेता कल सवेरे भारत-जापान के सांस्कृतिक धार्मिक संबंधों के प्रतीक तोजी मंदिर दर्शन के लिए उत्सुक दिखे।
प्रधानमंत्री आबे ने विश्वास व्यक्त किया कि प्रधानमंत्री श्री मोदी के नेतृत्व में भारत का आर्थिक बदलाव मजबूत गति पकड़ेगा। उन्होंने कहा कि आर्थिक रूप से उभरता हुआ भारत क्षेत्र तथा विश्व के लिए महान रणनीतिक महत्व का होगा और इससे पूरी दुनिया की लोकतांत्रिक शक्तियों को प्रेरणा मिलेगी। प्रधानमंत्री श्री मोदी ने कहा कि भारत जापान के बीच मजबूत साझेदारी न केवल दोनों देशों के आर्थिक लाभ के लिए है बल्कि यह क्षेत्र तथा विश्व के लिए अच्छी शक्ति होगी।
दोनों नेताओं ने क्षेत्र तथा विश्व की घटनाओं पर खुले और व्यापक रूप से विचारों का आदान-प्रदान किया। दोनों नेताओं ने एशिया तथा विश्व में शांति, स्थायित्व तथा समृद्धि के लिए मिलकर काम करने के अवसरों पर समान विचार व्यक्त किए।
