TMC MP Dinesh Trivedi announced his resignation from the Rajya Sabha on Friday, saying he feels suffocated in the House as he is unable to do anything for the violence going on in his state, West Bengal.
“If you sit here quietly and cannot do anything, then it is better that you resign from here and go to the land of Bengal and be with people,” he said in the Upper House of Parliament.
Trivedi said the world looks at India when something happens.
“What I mean to say is the way violence is taking place in our state. Sitting here, I am feeling perplexed as to what should I do
The Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP said he is unable to bear various incidents that are happening in West Bengal.
Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh said there is a due process for resigning from the House and asked Trivedi to submit his resignation in writing to the chairman.

The proceedings of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned on Monday morning amid protests by Trinamool Congress members over alleged “misuse” of the CBI by the central government.
As soon as Lok Sabha paid obituaries to former members who had died in the recent past, members of the TMC raised the issue, saying they have given notice for an adjournment motion to discuss the issue.
When Speaker Sumitra Mahajan said they can raise the issue after Question Hour, TMC members rushed to the Well of the House and started raising slogans against the BJP.
Members of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) were also in the Well supporting the TMC.
Later, Congress members entered the Well holding placards about the Rafale jet deal and unemployment figures
The Speaker continued with the Question Hour for 15 minutes and later adjourned the House till noon.

West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC leader Mamata Banerjee has begun a sit-in protest in Kolkata over the CBI’s attempt to question the Kolkata Police chief in connection with chit fund scams.
The chief minister skipped meals and remained awake the entire night on a makeshift dais here along with some senior ministers and party members.
In an unprecedented development Sunday evening, Banerjee sat on a dharna, protesting CBI’s attempt to quiz Kolkata Police chief Rajeev Kumar in connection with chit fund scams.
A CBI team, which went to Kumar’s residence in the city’s Loudon Street area, was denied permission, bundled into police jeeps and was whisked to a police station.
The CBI wants to quiz Kumar, who led a Special Investigation Team of West Bengal Police probing the scams, regarding missing documents and files.
Several political leaders, including Congress President Rahul Gandhi, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and RJD national president Lalu Prasad, came out in support of Banerjee.
