“Yoga Break” protocol of the Ministry of AYUSH, were suspended after the onset of the Covid-19 protocol,
Ministry of AYUSH in association with MDNIY developed 5 minutes yoga break protocol to de-stress, refresh and re-focus the workers at the work place in 2019. The protocol which was developed by a group of eminent Yoga experts contains a few stretching Yoga practices including Tadasana, Kati Chakrasana, etc. and Nadisodhana Bhramari Pranayama and Dhyana. The protocol was initially launched on trial basis in January 2020 and was found to be effective, based on an analysis of feedback of participants.

American state legislature has voted to lift the decades-old ban on yoga, but prohibited the use of namaste at a time when world leaders are adopting this way of greeting amid fears of the spread of coronavirus.
Pushed by conservative groups, the Alabama Board of Education in 1993 had voted to prohibit yoga, along with hypnosis and meditation in public schools in the state.
Moved by state legislator Jeremy Gray from the Democratic Party, Alabama House of Representatives on Tuesday voted 84-17 to pass the Yoga Bill.
The Alabama House of Representatives while lifting the ban on yoga prohibited the use of namaste.
The bill now moves to the state Senate and if approved and signed by Governor Kay Ivey, it would become a law and end a 27-year ban in K-12 schools.

Following in the vision of the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare, J P Nadda led the yoga session at the 69th session of the WHO Regional Committee of South-East Asia Region at Colombo, today.
Shri Nadda said that the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, gave a call at the United Nations General Assembly to recognize Yoga as a provider of holistic approach to health and well-being.
Shri Nadda was accompanied by Health Ministers of several nations in the Yoga session and more than a hundred participants.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Nadda said that Yoga, the “ancient Vedic gift to the world”, has the ability to bring together the body, soul and mind for a holistic approach to health and wellbeing, including the physical, mental and spiritual realms of the human being.
“Yoga is not just a set of exercises. Rather, Yoga is a philosophy of discipline and meditation that transforms the spirit and makes the individual a better person in thought, action, knowledge and devotion,” the Health Minister elaborated.
Minister said that the problems of modern lifestyles are well known. Decline in communicable diseases has been accompanied by a gradual rise in the prevalence of chronic Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) which now contribute to 60% of mortality.
He added that Yoga, an ancient practice of India, can contribute to resilience against Non-Communicable Diseases.
The knowledge of Yoga can be very effectively used for preventing and controlling many of the lifestyles diseases. “Major Non-communicable Diseases like Cancer, Diabetes, CVD, Stroke, and COPD are to a great extent by unhealthy lifestyle.
If the body is a temple of the mind, yoga creates a beautiful temple,” Shri Nadda stated.

Zoram Nationalist Party Opposes Yoga & Aadhar

[Aizawl] Zoram Nationalist Party Opposes Yoga & Aadhar
Zoram Nationalist Party (ZNP) today demanded that the Centre refrain from “imposing” Yoga in educational institutions and Aadhar on the people.
Terming Yoga as part of Hinduism, the ZNP, in a statement said the party did not have any objection to it, but it has reservation on imposition of the exercise in educational institutions.
The party said imposing Yoga in the schools was against the “principles of secularism” and the Congress government in the state should have the “courage to oppose it”.
The ZNP also asked the Centre to issue clarifications on Aadhar number, claiming that people without Aadhar cards were unable to receive some benefits from the government including LPG subsidies.
The Supreme Court on August 11, 2015 ruled that having Aadhar card was an individual’s choice, the party said, adding that the Centre seemed to be imposing Aadhar card on its citizens.

UN Chief Ban Ki-moon said Yoga does not discriminate, brings satisfaction
Emphasising that yoga does not discriminate, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has said he discovered the “simple sense of satisfaction” it brings when he tried his first “asana” during his visit to India.
In his message for the first International Day of Yoga to be observed on June 21, Ban recalled that it took him a while to gain his balance when he tried yoga for the first time in New Delhi during his visit in January but soon realised it can be done by anyone.
The UN spokesperson had also tweeted a photo of Ban doing his first yoga asana.
He said Yoga offers a “simple, accessible and inclusive” means to promote physical and spiritual health and well-being.
In proclaiming June 21 as the International Day of Yoga, the UN General Assembly has recognised the “holistic benefits of this timeless practice and its inherent compatibility with the principles and values of the United Nations,”
He Said “Yoga offers a simple, accessible and inclusive means to promote physical and spiritual health and well-being. It promotes respect for one’s fellow human beings and for the planet we share,”
The International Day of Yoga was a brainchild of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had mooted the idea in his maiden address to the General Assembly in September last year.Source Agency

Delhi High Court judge Manmohan Singh feels that No one should attempt to commercialise yoga when it is already a part of traditional knowledge of India Nation gears up to celebrate the International Yoga Day on June 21.
Justice Singh also said ‘Asanas’ of yoga cannot be copyrighted by anyone as one cannot claim originality over the ‘Asanas’ due to their extensive presence in India’s literature and traditional knowledge.
Referring to a judgement delivered by him in January 2014, rejecting intellectual property rights in yoga, the judge said the verdict had “a greater impact on the emerging trend of commercialising Yoga and its Asanas”.
“Yoga finds its place in Granthas as well as mythological books like Bhagavad Gita and has always been considered as sourced from India.
“Indian government’s position of celebrating International Yoga Day is one of the ways of connecting people of India with the spiritual practice, though the religious books of India are already prescribing it on day to day basis as a way to attain peace and tranquillity,”

The Prime Minister Of India Narendra Modi, and the Prime Minister of Canada, Stephen Harper, today visited the Gurudwara Khalsa Diwan And Lakshmi Narayan Temple in Vancouver.
During his remarks at the Gurudwara Khalsa Diwan, the Prime Minister described the reconstruction of the Gurudwara at Lakhpat in Gujarat during his tenure as Chief Minister. He said the Gurudwara at Lakhpat, where Guru Nanak had stayed for 15 days, had been damaged in the 2001 earthquake, and had been reconstructed successfully.
“Karambhoomi par fal ke liye shram sabko karna padta hai, Rabb sirf lakeerein deta hai, rang humko bharna padta hai,” the Prime Minister quoted, saying that we should fill life with colours of humanity, and serve mankind. Prime Minister Modi and Canadian Prime Minister Harper also visited the Komagata Maru Museum.
In his remarks at the Lakshmi Narayan Temple, the Prime Minister thanked the Canadian Prime Minister and the people of Canada for the warm welcome and hospitality they had accorded him. He said the Supreme Court of India had described Hinduism as a way of life. He exhorted the gathering to live life scientifically, in balance with nature, and with compassion. He said the United Nations had recently adopted June 21st as the International Day of Yoga with 177 countries co-sponsoring India’s resolution. He said Yoga had great potential to help the world overcome the stress of modern life, and urged people to spread this message.
