[New Delhi]EVMs ‘Absolutely Safe’ in Strongrooms: EC
The Election Commission Tuesday dismissed allegations that the voting machines used in the elections were being switched with fresh ones ahead of counting of votes on May 23.
Referring to the allegations and complaints, the commission said it would like to “emphatically and unambiguously” clarify that all such reports and allegations are “absolutely false and factually incorrect.”
The visuals on TV and social media “do not pertain to any EVMs used during the polls”
In a statement, the EC said, after the close of polls, all polled EVMs and VVPATs are brought under security cover to designated strongrooms, which are sealed with double locks in the presence of candidates and observers of the commission.
The entire process of storage and sealing of the strongroom is videoed.

डोटाभीम के थाना छेत्र में पीड़िता ने आरोप लगाया है कि दो व्यक्ति सोमवार को उसे पकड़कर सुनसान जगह पर ले गए और बलात्कार किया।
पीड़िता की आयु 18 – 19 साल की है।

Several post-graduate medical students withdrew their protest on Tuesday after the Maharashtra governor signed an ordinance to provide quota to the Maratha community members under the Socially and Economically Backward Class (SEBC) category.
Around 250 students were sitting on a protest at the Azad Maidan here for the last two weeks, after the Bombay High Court earlier this month ruled that the 16 per cent quota offered to Marathas will not be applicable on admissions to post-graduate (PG) medical courses this year.
Later, when the Supreme Court also upheld the HC ruling, leading to cancellation of admissions granted to 253 students, the state government took the ordinance route.
On November 30, 2018, the Maharashtra legislature passed a bill proposing 16 per cent reservation for Marathas in government jobs and education under the SEBC category.

सिरोही एवं श्रीगंगानगर जिले की 2 नगर परिषदों के 3 वार्डो एवं 13 नगरपालिकाओं के 14 वार्डो के रिक्त पदों पर 10 जून 2019 को उप चुनाव कराने के लिए कार्यक्रम घोषित किया है।
कार्यक्रम के अनुसार 27 मई को लोक सूचना जारी की जाएगी एवं 30 मई तक नामांकन पत्रा प्रस्तुत किये जा सकेंगे। नामांकन पत्रों की संवीक्षा 31 मई को तथा 3 जून को अभ्यर्थिता वापिस लेने की अंतिम तिथि होगी।
चुनाव चिन्हों का आवंटन 4 जून को तथा मतदान यदि आवश्यक हुआ तो 10 जून को प्रातः 7 बजे से सांय 5 तक होगे। मतगणना 12 जून को प्रातः 8 बजे से होगी।
